ASTs failed to replace WHMs regardless all their buffs, one of the reasons SCH can dps so much on raids is thanks to WHM burst heals with cure III and benediction.
AST can't simply compare, SCH+WHM is just too perfect.

They could just give synastry(as well as other abilities) different effects based on the sect if they really wanted to make it interchangeable. Noct could make it something you toggle and give the same kind of regen SCH has with the fairy. You basically pick your target and toggle it on. Dinural sect could just keep it the same as it is now. Sure they'd still be lacking powerful mitigation tools like deployment and other things you listed but at least noct sect wouldn't be a complete joke.
