what emperor in the 200s was sympathetic to christianity? also you seem to be suggesting that christians were barbarian invaders. the germanic tribes did convert to arianism, but not in this time period. there were cases of christians attacking pagan temples to try to become martyrs, but otherwise they were normal roman citizens who faced various levels of persecution depending on the place and time. change it to 3xx, edit a few details and it's 10/10
>there were cases of christians attacking pagan temples to try to become martyrs
Absolutely disgusting. Imagine if people did that sort of thing today...
>Only threat is from outside
on a similar note Martin of Tours is a popular saint in France and he roamed the countryside of Gaul destroying idols and pagan temples

Latins can't claim that shit, they just barged into Athens and realized how coarse their language and culture were.
That Mexican shitposter again
Why post this 10 times a day?

what the fuck are you talking about, there was no christian state before rome
>there was no christian state before rome
Apart from Armenia, and a few others.
>throwing away your own mother's property
scum
That's what Rome gets for being multiethnic. Should have given roman citizenship only to those descendants of Romulus.
oh yes, who can forget the invasion of the Roman empire by the Armenian hoardes in 301 AD, 12 years before Constantine converted (obviously to avoid their wrath), foreshadowing the goths, huns and saracens
B-but muh welfare panem!
Who will pay my pension and the legions if not roman egyptians and roman germanics?

What a traitorous piece of shit
YOU HATEFUL FEARMONGER!
THE CHRISTIANS ARE ONLY HERE TEMPORARILY; THEY WILL RETURN AS SOON AS THEY FIX THINGS UP BACK HOME!
THEY DON'T WANT TO CONVERT THE WHOLE ROMAN EMPIRE AND BAN ALL OTHER RELIGIONS, THEY JUST WANT TO LIVE IN PIECE AND DIVERSITY!
I think you have tried to invent a historical circumstance to make a point about our present times, rather than using a historical circumstance that actually happened.
What a fascinating response (if genuine).
This may be the only period in history where preserving past empires and civilisations is prioritised.
This extends even to preserving your enemy's civilisation in the present (it is no longer acceptable to obliterate a subdued enemy, yet total annihilation was the standard through much of - perhaps all of history)
>>Dirty smelly Muslims invading from the East
People who ritually wash 5 times a day as opposed to you Christians who believe washing is a sin. Sure
>Muslims are cleaner than Christians
I hope you're not including Mormons
Mormons are the cleanest people I've ever met.
The cleanest people are always the dirtiest.

spooky
wut
I think he means OCD criminal psychopaths, including many high profile CEO's.
People who seem squeaky clean, metaphorically speaking, are always corrupt and dirty.
Paul was doing it from the get-go, running up to pagan temples and showing off that idols weren't eating the offerings and other my-god-is-better ancient dickwaving.
He must have been a powerful speaker (Epistles IS pretty good), since he's something of an obnoxious douchebag (though I suppose that's what you get from a dude who is introduced as originally going to go persecute Christians to begin with before god says "be MY doucher").
We sort of figured out somewhere along the line that keeping objects and pieces of art isn't actually going to convert us to works of the devil or other such things. As well, we're hyper-prosperous compared to other eras to the point we actually can support curation of enemy curio pieces out of academic interest.
Also, militarily, nobody really bothers with obliterating people from existence as a people/culture anymore. It's an assload of work in the Information Age, so why bother? You're not normally taking clay anymore outside of the middle east.
