Update: I went back to GameStop this morning and got my Odin Sphere artbook that they wouldn't give me with my preorder yesterday.

The girl there today was a bit reluctant since the person I had dealt with yesterday was apparently the manager, but I showed her that the GS website clearly indicated that Vita was supposed to get the book too, and she said that since all of the PS4 preorders had been picked up and they still had one book left (gee, I can't imagine why that would be...), she'd let me have it.

Yeah, I had never really thought about it before this incident, but there's nothing really stopping them from slapping a "new" sticker on a pre-owned copy (especially with Vita, where the cart isn't likely to show wear).

Which leads to the issue of the already exorbitant prices for pre-owned games (at least compared to what they give in exchange for them). I'm not one for selling my games, but I don't know why anyone would sell them to GS instead of putting them on eBay or amazon marketplace unless it's a game that is in such oversupply that you pretty much can't give it away and just want to be rid of it.

That's how they can exploit customers since if you don't pick up newly released games in the first week or so they'll gut them and still say it's new.

If anyone sells their games and another one buys them they wouldn't tell the difference since carts don't show any signs of wear like discs do. That's why I'm sticking to other stores. At least best but keeps their games in cases.

Yeah. My only problem with Best Buy is that the nearest one is in the next state, over an hour away, while the nearest GS is fifteen minutes. On the plus side, there's no sales tax over there, so at least I recoup most of my gas money (or all of it and then some if I buy more than one game).
