Actually learning to counter is just embracing how busted those characters are and playing them. When nearly all high level matches have a McCree or Widowmaker because they stomp everything then they need to change you fucking mongoloid.

What else can you spam acknowledge to asides from telling people to defend/attack the objective? Because if that's all that you're doing, I don't see much value in it.

It helps while attacking, especially the ults if they can clear out a spot or its Lucios.

The ult charge thing is only useful if you've got something people can capitalize on (zarya, rein, lucio) and you're either about to use it or are saying you're like 10% off

I only respond "acknowledge" to when someone says something in team chat or uses the attack/defend/move the objective command. I also use ult status when someone else uses ult status, or when my ult is fully charged. I don't think people really care, you're fine.
