According to my calculator, the "normal" magna build for fire is something like 446883 effective damage when everything is LB4.

With GW gun stack and Agni it's like 457k instead so 11k increase. Not sure how much damage that gives you in-game though.

people had GW characters but you're right about HL, because it was new and the only HL there was was Tia HL, Nataku and RQ. Which even today they're very easy.
The magna shop didn't even exist back then, well it did but only had Tia weapons.
In fact, even with HL battles existing nobody really cared much about them, not even nips.
It all went to shit after Colo + Levi/Ygg HL and even more after Chev HL because it released the sword, which is the main reason all this element shitposting began.

If you can actually manage to GET crimson finger pool on fire they become the strongest of all the elements in terms of raw damage, even the JP wiki acknowledges it on the Agnis evaluation section.

If you need to ask then it shouldn't matter to you for a long time, but to answer the question:

Every color has magna weapons which are the primary end game goal for your weapon pool. They come in a variety, 4 to each color, but typically you want the one that gives you big dick damage.
Different types of weapons like swords and axes have different types of stats.
Fire only has one big damage item. It's a staff. Staffs have the lowest average damage of all weapon types so you hit like a little bitch compared to the other colors when using them.
Hence, stick.
