Orcas aren't canonical, as they were a literal joke build.
150 tons is the heaviest 'Mech currently in canon, which was produced at the end of the Jihad.
The Oxide might get quirked down a bit, but being a Hero it's unlikely to get drastically nerfed as long as people are still into buying.

I don't give a fuck about what you buy, but the fact that you criticize it for its graphics probably means you're Kakos Kolos.

I'd criticize it for it's gameplay but I haven't tried it. Anyway, don't get me wrong I think xcom apocalypse is kind of charming.

I know its a damn shame.

it has nothing to do with the graphics. im saying the gameplay looks really archaic.

i wonder if MWO would ever include the Rifle weapons?
Since battletech (Videogame) is going to be set in the succession wars and in the periphery it will probably include them.
Heavy rifle has the range of an AC5 but does 9 damage, weighs 8 tons. What does MWO do for ammo is it double? heavy rifle is 6 shots per ton in TT.
Medium rifle has a range of 450m and does 6 damage for a 5 ton weapon.
The light rifle would actually seem like a usable weapon for lights with ballistic slots, 3 tons, 3 damage range of 360m.
MWO couldnt really add Rocket launchers without fixing srms because otherwise they fit the same role really. (aside from rocket launcher pods being one shot items).
Rocket Launchers are unguided rockets with a wider spread than SRM's, single shot items. RL10 fires 10 missiles that do 1 damage each with a 540 max range only weighs 0.5 tons though. RL15 is 15 missiles, weighs 1 ton. 450 max range. RL20, 20 missiles, weighs 1.5 tons, 360 max range.
Chase Ramirez
They're in-timeline but not really used much outside the Periphery in TT, but that really shouldn't stop things.
Rifles do reduced damage vs. armor, though. If you matched that up with MWO's double armor, a light rifle deals 1.5 damage with a three-ton medium-range ballistic weapon (med 4.5, hvy 7.5).
Ammo is usually 50% more per ton for ballistics, so a heavy rifle would have 9 shots/ton.
Ethan Adams
removing the damage reduction and increasing ammunition would lead to them being a feisable weapon for lights i would think. 9shots/ton is kinda lame.
Adrian Morales
Rifles are so low tech not even SW mechs use them. It's too bad they have a -3 damage penalty for anything with a BAR of 9+, which is really total bull. So the heavy rifle deals a mere 6 damage to anything using standard armor / heavy industrial and above.
Too much spread would be bad for RLs. They could fill a niche role if they were *more* accurate than other missile weapons, firing in a relatively straight line with little spread but uses the Clan LRM launch sequence so the missile "beam" takes a while to fully hit the target. MRMs in the future can behave the same way.

Remember they also do full damage to internals.
A heavy rifle deals more damage than an AC/5 to armor for the same tonnage and with the same reach, never mind what it does to internals. Higher heat and lower ammo/ton isn't unreasonable at all.
Consider that a pair of HRs will deal 15 damage at good range to armor for 16 tons and with only marginally less ammo than a Gauss. Yeah, it's more heat. It also isn't charge-and-fire or a single, massively fragile gun, plus it wrecks internals even better- 15 armor, 18 internal damage.
Nolan Thomas
Next GONK contract I'm gonna set to be IS unless someone beats me to the catch
Do remember MWO doubles armor, which means halving the damage penalty to armor. Renders even a light rifle capable of dinging armor, unlike TT.
RLs should have a spread pattern of 5 rockets, firing repeatedly for larger RLs (15, 20).

We've lost the last couple games due to extreme inexperience in the 8v8 arena and general lack of guidance and preparedness. For example:
>bringing a brawling deck and then tentatively sneaking around the map instead of pushing My theory is that we're all terrified of the 12v12 environment where pushing into a team generally means you're a sacrificial lamb that gets hammered by 12 different large laser boats all at once. In an 8v8 setting where there is also a strict tonnage limit this problem is far less prevalent and makes brawling a real possibility, we just need to retrain our instincts from 2+ years of 12v12 poking fear. In reality what you're facing when you push against a team of laser pokers in an 8v8 game is a few large laser strikes from Grasshoppers and possibly IIC Hunchies, some cannonade from Kodiaks and that's ONLY if the entire enemy team is focusing one person - in which case the entire rest of YOUR team is right behind you ready to fuck shit up and bring hundreds of damage worth of SRMs to bare into the face of a rapidly overheating laserboat. Once you break the ranks of a poking team shit falls apart real fast, the issue is that we didn't and they ended up surrounding us and making our lives hell.
>bringing a poking deck and getting swarmed by shitters We let them run to us without punishing them. The correct choice in this situation is to start rotating to a safe position and forcing the enemy team to stay exposed and unable to harass you as you keep dumping lasers in their face. Focusing damage also helps.
All in all our biggest problem is that we don't know when or how to move. In the past few losses we've always ended up getting confused and being corralled into some strange position that favors the enemy team, then spilling our spaghetti and eating shit. This is only really fixed by practicing more. I'm in contact with other teams for the purpose of arranging scrims so that we can get some decent practice under our belts.
Evan Wood
does anyone have the team have any comp experience, in or out of mwo?
Leo Butler
What are competitive dropdecks looking like, mostly?
What seems to be working best for you guys?
Also, yo, /gerg/. Vancouver's nice. No sign of Tina yet. I'll keep you posted.
Jaxson Morris
Comp dropdecks are mostly meme mechs tailored to the specific map we're always playing on - Canyon Network. Generally it's something like:
>lmao 2kodiak >grasshoppers for dat vertical laser poke >hunchback IIC for dat 39 damage LPL alpha poke >power jenners and coxides serving as cavalry
But we've also seen a huge variety of things. The general rule of thumb is that if it has good poke and/or brawl, and jets, it's going to be useful. So this includes Enforcers, Spiders, Griffons, a ton of random assaults, some clan heavies and mediums that you might not expect, etc.
Our best bet so far is just a laser poke deck but I'd really like to get us accustomed to brawling. Once things are ironed out I have a feeling it's going to get a lot easier.
Xavier Walker
>tl;dr we are bad and need to git gud
Charles Fisher
Sounds like a blast. Kodiaks, Grasshoppers, Jenners/Oxides, and Hunchies don't surprise me too much, nor do Griffins and and even Enforcers, but Spiders? I take it that it's just the single LPL build, or some shit?
What's your dropdeck looking like most often? Either way, I figure doing what everyone's most comfortable with and what mechs everyone's most comfortable with will yield the best results - but that's probably kind of an obvious thing to say.
As for brawling, you just need to invoke the power of the warboss and it's ggclose. Can the Spirit Bear be warboss? That's probably my favorite brawl build right now.
John Howard
>Kong losing in 8v8 brawls

Kong. Kong never changes.
Except all the original 8v8er types are long gone, leaving people with 12v12 instincts and too timid to act.
William Wood
There's no shame in adapting and learning, shitposter-san. It's a stretch to say that we're bad since we regularly preform well - and have preformed well in this tournament - but you can't expect anyone to just immediately adapt to a new setting with no growing pains. The reason 228 and the Lords are good is because they practice every goddamn day. We don't, and it shows, and I'm trying to fix that.
The Spider build does involve a single Large Laser yes. A 5K has 50% laser refresh and 25% laser duration quirks. For a poking deck it's a very viable choice if you don't want the cavalry rush of SRM Jenners.
And I'm not telling you our deck, mole-kun. Return to your masters empty handed and weep, you will gain nothing from your interrogation today.
Jacob Evans
Will KONG triumph in the face of overwhelming large laser faggotry?
Will Kaelus and his kool kids finally submit to Dashing's daredevils?

Oh, right, 5K is decent.
