>windmill guide I'm at total level 26 and I already have R9 Windmill just from the Ciar dungeon. I think they massively reduced the grind needed to max it out.

What server should I make my new character on?
Liam Phillips
Yeah, they added a ton of stuff back in 2014~2015 because the game's in its dying years. Everyone gets free inventory plus (more bank space, able to use bags, etc.) and the experience for most skills was reduced. It became even easier to level stuff once talents were released, which gives you double growth for skills related to that talent. Windmill takes less than a week to R1 if you know where to train for huge mobs.
Jaxson Miller
So should I just max out the fluted short sword they start you with? Or just jump to a better weapon like a broadsword or gladius early-on?
The event just dumped 20k on me for free so I figure I can make some investments.
Andrew Richardson
I never thought I would miss seeing all the scrubs in beginner pants fighting foxes in Tir Chonill
I miss eight years ago ;_;

Adam Cooper
I wish I felt like still playing. Made it to just under 16k ttl and just have nothing left to do. Good luck, new people!
Luke Foster
You'd probably be best off focusing on training your skills and stuff for now. A broadsword or gladius might be nice, but I'm not sure how much of an impact it will make earlygame. If you're on Alexina, I could probably manage to get on some time this week and find a sword on a pet to mail to you. But besides that, I'm basically ded.
Hunter Green
>That feel when lvl 5000+
Mason Walker
I'm not really sure what to do. Im level 3500 GM close combat but i feel like I do nothing for damage
Ian Diaz
Stack strength, get special upgrades, and enchant your gear. Reforges will also help, but are the last thing to bother with and aren't necessary.
Jacob Rodriguez
Alright thanks. Should i be going for ninja or lancer for strength?
Angel White
I'd say Lancer then Ninja, but lances are sort of dead now. Ninja is grindy as shit and will make you hate yourself, so go for lances first and make a point to work on strength-giving life skills when there's a 2x life skill event up. Mining is easy as shit to r1.
Sebastian Carter
Any way we could encourage more new players to join?
Leo Brooks
Ill try that out thanks for the help
Logan Wright
That's what I figure. The wiki seems to treat it like a DEX weapon so it might be better to switch over, but I don't think I'd be able to keep up with maintenance costs anyway.
David Long
I've been trying to get people to play but the tutorial is really painful and i havent been able to get anyone to stick with it
Noah Sullivan
If you somehow manage to hide the fact game is beyond pay2win and he probably wont party with anyone outside the ones who invited him/her for the first 1200 levels? Yes.
Caleb Cooper
I think the best bet to revive this thread would be if enough new players started the game together and got hooked on it with little to no outside help ingame from the previous generation. Getting tons of resources and being carried ingame would just kill a lot of their motivation and make them get bored faster I think.
Julian Sanders
I wouldn't say it's pay2win now that the premium shit is gone. It's more pay4convenience now.
Luis Butler
Farmlands are still VIP/Premium, and that's pretty much the only way to make money without bashing your head against a wall.
Charles Mitchell
It would help if people with decent amounts of followers would stream the game
Eli Adams
I tried streaming the game once, but never knew what people would want to watch while someone plays mabi.
Mason Martin
I think the best bet to get new players to to carry them thru an event, take dragon boat race as an example, it was my very first event and the cool bros who got me into the game helped me get geared up from it.
I eded up with 1 of every item in game that helped me level.
Nathan Clark
>AWWYEAH I was in that guild too, holy shit. Bros helped me get a bunch of endgame skills I wasn't supposed to get, and helped me finish G1/2/3
Ryder Gomez
How do you even make money early in the game? I'm saving all this leather that the goblins drop, but I get the feeling that no one's going to buy this shit. So far mimic scrolls seem to be the most reliable since there's like 50 of them in every dungeon.
Carter King
It would really help new players pick the game up if the game wasn't awful and dying.
But the game is awful and dying so I don't think you're very likely to get much new blood. In fact, you would be doing people wrong by trying.
Bentley Thomas
HP 30 potions that drop sell for a lot
Ryder Sullivan
I still think the game is pretty fun desu
Ryder Cook
Same
Chase Gomez
Work on your homestead, if you level it up you can start an herb farm and make a lot of money every day training potion making. Also get started on commerce, later on it'll be a decent way to make money.
But yeah, just sell drops and hold on to your fomor scrolls.
Landon Stewart
Who Tarlach here?
Brayden Hall
>that feel when i watched the guild die and i couldnt do anything about it. I miss them so much...
Jose Wright
No one :^)
Lincoln Clark
>want to train blacksmithing and crafting and do fun stuff >can't because I haven't maxed windmill >want to do big party dungeons >can't because I haven't maxed windmill >want to run questlines and explore that gigantic continent >can't because I haven't maxed windmill
Well that was a waste of 6 hours.
Caleb Long
>wanting to max windmill
who cares about windmill desu its stupid
Zachary Brooks
Don't listen to min/maxing faggots. Rank 5 is really all you need, anything after that is just for damage.
Rank 5 is all you need for most skills, because that's when they get their 'added effects' like the splash damage on Smash, or the boosted mana regen on most spells. Especially so, since you're never going to make it into that "top 100" ring of tryhards on any server.
Adrian Jones
>not maxing windmill Its like saying "i dont want my character to be good"
Dominic Richardson
Of course you're going to max it eventually, but one of the biggest turn-offs about this game is the constant emphasis on "FUCK YOU, DON'T TOUCH ANY SKILLS UNTIL YOU MAX WINDMILL, YOU FUCKING SHITTER." That's the #1 reason the Mabinogi general died, because no one new could stick around under that and all the old people got bored of this grindfest of a scam either way.
Jace Garcia
Windmill is for garbage meleefags
Luis Parker
Windmill is the skill that carries newbies until lvl 500+ tho, magic costs a lot of money, archery is shit, fighting/puppetry/gunner need high stats, music is lame for combat and alchemy is unimportant.
Now that windmill doesnt take 10% your hp each use, its perfect for the newbies.
Juan Green
I thought mabi gen died.
David Jones
Is this game alive?
Carter Ross
Sure it's great for combat, but one of the big draws of this game is the fact that there's stuff other than combat, which you're basically not allowed to do until you've spent 2 weeks grinding out zombies for R1 Windmill unless you want to "ruin your character."
Jack Adams
Is this game appropriate if I just want to do comfy farming, homemaking, and relaxing in a virtual world?
Connor Martin
If you're willing to grind trashmobs for a literal month just to get through the barrier of entry, sure.
Xavier Myers
So you're forced to do grinding and combat before you can play dress-up and house? The website lied to me.
Nolan Sanchez
Well your homestead just needs a cumulative level of 10, which you can get without even thinking about. The actual in-game house costs a shitton of money, and if you want to make actual money off of farming, that also costs a shitton of money as well as fighting off squatters. Fishing is pretty easy to pick up, but you're advised against levelling it because that'll raise your CP and make it harder to grind out your essential abilities (Smash, Windmill, etc.) and it takes a ridiculously high level of fishing to catch anything worthwhile.
Isaiah Gomez
>play dress-up I hope you're ready to jew dye ampules for 3 years to even get close to having enough money. Also cosmetic/transmog slot costs real world money.
Brayden Campbell
So how the fuck do you get armor in this game? The cheapest set I've seen is 150k and the only thing the FAQ says about making money is to literally buy cash shop shit and sell it.
Wyatt Morgan
I'm surprised they didn't casualize the game like Maplestory since it's so old.
Why are they being so jewish on a dying game?
Dominic Diaz
>implying talent doesnt make things ultra easy >implying finding easy "boss" level mobs isnt easy as heck now with shadow missions. Theres simply no excuse to not train WM now, its at least 6 times easier than when i had to.
Bentley Roberts
so sad that no EU servers
Jason Cooper
Alexina server is pretty active
Joseph Baker
>want to train blacksmithing and crafting >can't max out windmill Windmill is nothing compared to blacksmithing. Blacksmithing and other life skills are grind traps, even apothecary is useless because events shit out pots instead of good rewards.
>big party dungeons Doesn't happen anymore unless it's a spamable event dungeon, not even for the shithole alban that they added
>run questlines and explore that gigantic continent Only thing stopping you is your own boredom.
Besides, bash is what's used for melee now, windmill is just stats, aoe clear if the enemy doesn't resist it, and AI reset.
Anyway, newbies can find stuff to do, but you'll have to interact with pubs, likely newbies who are also trying to get by.
Jaxon Parker
Which Veeky Forums guild is the most active?
Christian Mitchell
Werent they all dead?
Isaac Gutierrez
God damn, how many times do I have to say it. Windmill is no longer that bad to rank. Fucking forget about your CP if that's what's holding you back from doing what you actually want to do.
By the way, if you can't handle a single combat skill, blacksmithing will kill your desire to play this game.
The legend never dies.
Carson Evans
Play NA.
If you can't find any reps from the big guilds to take you in, you can join my guild in Tarlach or join the new guys in Alexina or Mari or whatever.
Ayden Ward
>Windmill is no longer that bad to rank I started literally yesterday and I'm already at rank 7 just spamming it on goblins in ciar normal. I'm not even being conservative about it either, I've ranked shit like critical hit as well. Spamming windmill is the easiest way to clear enemies, you're actually wasting more time by NOT grinding windmill.
Joseph Flores
Whats a good Alexina Guild for a scrub like me to join?
Angel Fisher
Yotsuba is the Veeky Forums guild on Alexina. Tell them you're from here if you can even apply still.
If you're looking for activity then I have no idea.
Cooper Hill
So I basically have to do fomor scroll quests to get my first set of armor, then? See you all in 3 weeks.
James Butler
If you do the attendance check event you get 30000 gold free
Nolan Smith
No, you spam events or church ptj and sell that stuff for money. You get your first set of armor shortly into the first questline.
Wyatt Watson
>that feel when a friend gifts you awesome stuff
Carson Harris
>Ice spear chapter 3 Is this worth any money? I think a mimic dropped it.
Jeremiah Murphy
Just get one of those cheap sets of light armor.
Colton Perry
No, I think it's just IS2 and IS4 that are worth anything.
Levi Jones
So how do I go about selling shit? I've got a ton of leather stored and I'm sure there's some poor fucker out there who wants it.
Benjamin Butler
Well you could either sell it to any NPC with a "shop" button, or trade with someone
Jonathan Rodriguez
>that feel when you love this game but can't get any of your irl friends into it
reeeee
Adrian King
oh, they were such a disaster i played there when they existed for a year by themselves without literally no events and nothing by automatic maintenances, a mmo deserted by its devs, it was pretty unique
Nolan Allen
Page 10 reminder to keep bumping the thread and post some gosh darn Mabinogis, friends.
Isaac Bailey
The Alexina and Mari guilds live on playing other games, but pretty much everyone in them refuse to come back to the game. A couple people occasionally log on from both of them, but not really enough to be considered active anymore. You're best off making a new one with friends or joining a pub guild at this point.
Gavin Johnson
nao's tiddies
Ryder Ward
What are the dragon boat races? Do you need to be a high level to do them?
Camden Clark
That reminds me, anyone know the status of Leyline? I haven't seen the officer or leader on in months and I'm not in the guild.
It'd be nice if we could start up a new Veeky Forums crew. I imagine if we can actually keep the general alive for a while we'll get a few more new people and some returning players who were just waiting for another active group. I've seen it work here before, anyway.
I've never bothered with that event but based on what I know about it I'd say no, what you probably really need is a full party to do it with. The rewards barely seem worthwhile though. wiki.mabinogiworld.com/view/Dragon_Boat_Racing_Event_(2016)
Logan Howard
Failey moved on from Mabi a long time ago and Minamiko keeps in contact with the Alexina group. Stepador on rare occasions as well, although he isn't part of Leyline. Besides them, I have no idea about the old Tarlach group.
Liam Sanchez
If people started a new Veeky Forums guild I would totally be down to join. I just started fresh yesterday.
Eli Howard
I suppose I could do it since I'm already paying for VIP for my other guild, just need to get some more character cards.
Assuming this thread survives the night, everyone who is actually actively playing and interested in a new guild needs to reply with their server. It'd be best if we could get everyone on the same server so we can direct any newcomers here on out to that one. Starting over again shouldn't be a big deal for anyone ITT under 1000 anyway.
Again >everyone who is actually actively playing and interested in a new guild needs to reply with their server
inb4 3 responses and a 404 in the morning Don't let me down, Mabigen.
Sebastian Wright
TL note: Don't let me down means don't let me down.
