Dunno how P5 will be, but Bioware really focuses on the romance and actually makes it matter in the main story. Some of the first info from Mass Effect Andromeda is they are improving romance.

P5 hasn't really advertised it and just sorta recently confirmed romantic social links.

I don't think romance has ever been an important plot point in any Persona game. It's always present but as a minor side-plot. The closest it comes to importance is in P3 with Yukari and MC, but even then:
A. It's only in the epilogue, written for the re-release of the game
B. All that matters is that Yukari cared about MC. Actual romance or reciprocation not required.

I somehow doubt Phantom plowing Futaba on a pile of old video games and doujin in her room is going to be an important plot point.
