Usually there's some medium wars that release european secondary powers nad bring new players in. There's plenty of chances to influence the outcomes even if your armies weren't the largest ones yet.

Also one of the most fun playstyles is to change into one newly released state at that point. (the likes of balkan states, hungary, poland, ukraine) Super cool alt-his and exotic borders. And nicely hard.

Also aren't communists really trying to gain momentum at that point in the game? That's something even the big states struggle against if they lose a war and then get a rebellion

Hey /gsg/, I've been saving up and I'm thinking of getting Distant Worlds Universe.

Now I'm a massive faggot who generally doesn't listen to the advice of wiser men, and as such I'll probably start a pre-warp game, in-spite of the OP picture telling me not to.

But I would like to know your input (if any) on two things:

A) Should I run a game in vanilla first, or is it worth just starting with mods like the AI Improvement+Extended, and then Stuff & Bits UI mod?

B) While I looked up as much as I could find, I'm not sure if the "Victory Condition" (or anything else to that matter) can end the game, short of the empire getting destroyed.
If I were to plan on dominating the galaxy, would the game just end itself at a certain date like Paradox games, or when the empire's victory conditions are met, or can the player play on to take complete control of the galaxy?

If you're new to any game, best to start with vanilla unless it's a game like EU Rome, which is all but unplayable without mod fixes.

If you're playing HPM I think you even cant release them as other than your government type, the satellites will be communist. I can't be sure, im on mobile. This is if you have annexed the territories first, and then decide to release them as satellites. If you just force others to release countries, I think they are the government type of the releaser - in which case there isn't much other options than editing the save file I guess.

That and working out who should get what based on if you're in the axis or not.

Anyway conditions for soviet surrender are currently.
Germany controls moscow/leningrad/stalingrad and surrender progress is >70%
meantime to happen of 90 days so you have to hold those 3 for awhile before they actually surrender
