So when you master an SSB, it says +10 to X stat. Does this mean the SSB itself gained a stat boost, the weapon gained a stat boost for that character, or the character itself gained the stat boost permanently? It isn't too clear, but I'm also retarded.

Why the fuck would Square hide plot-important scenes like this? You literally have to go ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF BEVELLE, a second time, for pretty much no good reason. There's no indication that there's anything down there either.

But no, in order to understand half of what the fuck is even going on in this game, you need to go to the bottom of Bevelle and see this one scene. I can imagine why people hated the plot of X-2 because half of it is fucking HIDDEN from anyone who didn't use a guide.

First I tried to used their very low evasion to land safe fire veils and then damage magic since the strongest one doesn't counter those. It sort of worked, probably would but I fucked up in the end and their elementalist wrecked me.
Then I took an archer, used study prey and hasted her while the bangaa cast grace and the paladin used defense.
Apparently all those bonus stack, even if defense goes away by the next turn it pretty much meant invulnerability and then the lingering protect and grace were enough to keep her alive through the counters.

It's probably safer to just debuff them from afar though, since the other guys can fuck you up if they get close..

It's not. It happens after you complete the Besaid and Kilika Hotspots in Ch3, after the Djose Hotspot appears (which is the last mission of the chapter). There's nothing indicating that there's any reason for you to go to the bottom of Bevelle.
