Wew alright so I just finished DaS for the first time. Only thing is I was working on the DLC and Artorias when eventually I just said "alright maybe I'll kill gwyn instead" and did, but I didn't realise it instantly puts you in NG+. Is there any way to go back there straight away on the same save (as in not NG+ him because I'd probably get destroyed) or am I just fucked?

make yourself a pyromancer, use fire surge to kite them
god it makes them mad because they will continue to lose health as long as they are passive
kiting in general is a good way of killing passive players so as long as you have quick ranged options you can play it completely safe

arbalest with explosive/heavy bolts or knight's crossbow with lighting ones, both are good
also bombs and throwing knives
don't forget to constantly do faggy gestures and play passive as well to make them mad

Offhand crossbows destroy tradefishers (not that it's a great way to play in the first place). The Avelyn is good but firing three bolts takes longer, which means you'll have to reload later, which means you'll possibly miss a chance to reload it if your opponent isn't stuned by the third bolt, causing you to end up passing up an opportunity to shoot later on due to your bow being unloaded.

If you're the sort of person who only takes guaranteed shots in the first place this is fine, as you'll have as much time as any other crossbow if you land the last bolt. In general, it just depends on personal preference. Worry about the moveset more than the output.

You know you can get by just using the DLC gems, right? You can get them quickly and don't need to go chalice-diving.

Really? I know I've found a couple numbers to be off by 1, and the bloodring doesn't show the absorption penalty, but other than that I've never had issue. I guess I'll go check and see if it's the strike damage later.
