Can someone give me a rundown of what to expect when entering Challenge mode?

All I know of it is what I remember from previous PSO games.

somewhat the same, you start at level one but as a special "challenger" class. you can use every weapon and armor you find out on the field to its full potential, however you have to find grinders out on the field to exchange for PAs and skills for said weapons, mind you the grinders are very RNG based because they randomly drop from enemies, some skills and abilities can also drop from enemies.

you can trade in the spare things you find out on the field for grinders and/or skills that you need at Interval Areas which appear every 3 or so levels.

you're also timed in a sort of way with something called the VR meter. it drains slowly over time and you lose a chunk of time whenever someone dies in your MPA, this can be alleviated by finding little hidden green capsules that restore time to the VR gauge. a VR manager role is normally appointed so the rest of the MPA can focus on fighting while the VR manager keeps an eye on the gauge and attempts to keep it as high as possible.

Elder > Loser > Double > Apprentice

Elder's theme is just too good, and feels like a more intense version of Dark Falz from PSO.
Luther's theme is exciting, and has its own flair to it. You face a self-proclaimed god.
Double's theme is wild and crazy. The music jumps around, and shows just how unstable the pair is.
Apprentice' theme doesn't feel very tense at all. Apprentice was poorly built up. Final laser was pretty hype though.

Varder is the most fun boss. You're destroying a giant robot/ship by yourself. No AIS, no crazy jump pads or run speed boosters. They did it right when they made Varder. Shame about the loot though.
