then you right click them to attempt negotiation

I've only been upgrading it on bato. right now my stronghold is 7/7 including that ogre and a quartermaster. I was upgrading thwart on kirilo and using the other 3 for combat.
Understand the way that alignment affects how manpower is contributed by your guys. IIRC it's neutral has their highest guile/fight/magic level squared, lawful is just their highest utility skill, and chaos is their second highest skill period.
Labor 2 doubles your manpower from that character. Get Bato to Labor 2.

Sadly I'm a filthy pirate because I'm dirt poor right now, whenever I get some money I'd probably buy the game. Hopefully as you said if the sales increase he'll add a content update. This could easily become a really huge game if he continues to support it.
You either need telepathy from weave or a monster with an ability that lets it talk to them. Sasquatches who can talk to animals and witches who can talk to anything are the two I know so far.
non-Humanoids need a special monster like witches or Sasquatch because they have Beast talk or Mindspeak. If you upgrade weave to level 4 you can have mindspeak

That's a boss monster so no, later in the game there are more like him but that particular monster no. The area doesn't respawn
They can, I've recruited previously made characters before.
Actually they are in the game as recruitable NPCs. Some players have gone to the roster and deleted the generic templates so their own creation would appear
