Basically you pay ventures to send them out for either specific things or you can pay 2 for quick ventures. For the specific things it can be useful for crafting or making a niche profit on things like toadskin which is used for leatherworker glamour prisms. Quick ventures basically is an RNG hell that picks from a huge pool of items but has a chance of bringing in huge money, and the chances improve once your retainer's gear reaches a certain item level.
