The main story is not great, but not as bad as rb2. And there's a ton of new content, stuff that wasn't in V, and that is translated much better.

HDN is completely different than any of the other games. Combat system, story, overall vibe, memes, even some character's personalities... everything is different. The gameplay is really bad though, so maybe just watch this on youtube.
Mk2 used 3d models instead of CG sprites in conversations, and the combat was a little different, but otherwise it's basically RB2.
V is just a worse version of RB3. Less content, less interesting combat, worse scout system. Don't even think about playing that one, there's no reason to.
Why watching Youtube when you can just read it? You don't have to bear through the whining in some high-pitched voice.
I clocked a few hours in Victory, I think I'm going to play that one 'cause it seemed fine enough, and also RB 3 'cause I actually really enjoyed what I played.
I don't own HD1 and have no means to, and I really wanted to skip MK2 anyway 'cause it looks like butts with the models instead of awesome portraits.
