well let me break it down for you in sc2 terms, since you only speak sc2

illidan is pretty much sarah kerrigan, used to be good, used to have a love interest with one of the main characters, wanted to do whatever it takes to stop the legion invasion of the night elves, became a demon hunter, betrayed his people, and they turned their backs to him (just like kerrigan was betrayed)

then illdian get locked up in the black temple and started to make a demon hunter army to take down kaelthas

now in the newest installment of the World of Warcraft (tm) series, he is again back to the good side to help against the legion again (just like kerrigan was magically turned good again to fight mensk)
