SU vs US

Who was the bigger threat to humanity; the Soviet Union or the United States

Both were equally on the verge of turning the world into the wasteland from Fallout.

The Soviet Union. The inherent imperialism within socialism (worldwide revolution) gave the Soviets a casus belli to meddle in the affairs of any nation.

It was not neccesary for a nuclear war to bring about the socialist '''paradise''' but it was required.

The oligarchies

So the Soviets. While the US certainly displayed some oligarchic tendencies, these are nothing compared to the oligarchies that inevitably develop under socialist systems.

Technically every form of government is an oligarchy, assuming its not a dictatorship

t. trotskyist living in america

The fact that the US taught their kids they would win a nuclear war while the Soviets taught their kids that nuclear war is horrible and terrible for everyone should tell you something.

>The fact that the US taught their kids they would win a nuclear war

when, in safety and survival videos?

is "duck and cover, yay we survived" winning?

At least the Soviet Union was trying to do good

It's literally the opposite.

The USSR doctrine was that with proper civil defense, they could survive another war with the Western imperialists.

The US doctrine was essentially "why bother building shelters, we're all fucked if the bombs fall"

Is that why the Soviets began a nuclear arms race?

Good according to who?

hi CIA

The US wasn't engaging in swallowing up countries and committing mass murder, so the Soviet Union.

Bane?

>what is south vietnam
>what is US backing of totalitarian regimes in latin america

objective standards of morality?

Heroic resistance against communism that helped hundreds of millions of people to live better lives.

Not the US swallowing up countries and committing mass murder.

>"heroic resistance against communism"
>military dictatorships propped up in part because of American corporate necessity for the retention of the Hacienda system

>committing mass murder

What is de-Stalinization?

What is mutually assured destruction?
>Don't worry folks, if they try to harm us WE'LL LAUNCH OUR ENTIRE STOCKPILE.
What an inspiring policy.

>Soviets began a nuclear arms race
Wut. Do you have any idea how stupid this sounds?

Weird, it didn't seem to be a corporate necessity before 1945.

But yeah, I'm sure that if we had left Southeast Asia and Latin America to the tender mercies of the KGB things would have turned out much better for all involved.

I mean look at how great things were in South Vietnam and Cambodia when the US decided to stop interfering with the native peoples and just let nature take its course.

>assassinate democratically elected socialist president

yay we freedom'd them

So gulags and ethnic cleansing of eastern Europe are objectively moral?

him, of course

America is like a massive jackass power like every power before them

The Soviet Union was autism on a whole new scale
