Okay so sthg assuming sega makes an SA3 and they keep knuckles and sonic fairly similar to how they handled in the first two games from a style perspective. How would they handle tails considering I don't really want him strapped to the mech again and I feel like the raising formula isn't unique enough for his own still when it comes to stage gimmicks

I think tails strapped to a mech can work if it's done right. Controls/handling/gameplay and whatnot. I think in my mind, his ideal gameplay is being able to jump in and out of his mech during his levels.

Better than having the temple and key search take up half of the saga.

They could be worse. They could be the speed levels.

Give Tails equipment like in Tails Adventure and make his stages puzzle platforming. Sonic can be speed platforming while Knuckles is exploration platforming.

SA1's Tails gameplay, with more of an emphasis on Flight and Agility, probably some slight shooting elements as well. Also Ring Bombs that explode with electricity. But overall, very similar to Sonic, similar enough to be able to race him and win using Flight.

Honestly, Enerjak was one of the bigger loses of the reboot. Echidna craziness aside, it was a different kind of villain that presented an actual threat. Nagus is too much of a dipshit to take seriously. Hell, the whole point of the Eggman's Dozen arc was to keep up Eggman's cred.
