I'm curious, why does everyone think the game is so casual?

Where does the element of luck come into Overwatch that makes it less like StarCraft and more like Mario Kart?

Is it simply the aspect of it being a team game? Is it ultimates? Can't using ultimates be considered a form of skill given that everyone has them.

I think two teams who are both highly skilled will pretty much always end up involving a lot of team coordination and just raw skill from the players.

Comp Overwatch is actually pretty interesting because it involves thoughtful team composition, positioning, and intelligent choices regarding when to push, when to die, and more.

Casual Overwatch isn't luck based in the sense that your fate is decided by a coin flip, but you have much less control of the game when you're good than you do when you're bad. For example, if you're a shitty Roadhog who mostly acts as a human pin cushion and gives the enemy easier ults, you're making the game much harder for your team without realizing it.

It has a decent skill ceiling. It's just astronomically lower than games like sc2 and moba's.

There is just so much more thought and depth to those games and so many more variables that effect decisions and how you play. I speak regularly to someone who has coached both korean sc2 pro's and korean league pro's. Including some of the best players in the scene.

They just have infinitely more depth at the top level. Overwatch is mostly just aim, smart picks and co-ordination.

Fps games are inherantly less skillfull than games like moba's and sc2 because it's just 90% aim. And i'd still rank csgo as being a more skilled game than this.

The McCree nerf didn't do shit because FtH at any reasonable range will still fuck him relentlessly. A fight against any non-braindead Winston is all but unwinnable and the D.Va buff is going to slam dunk him into the shitter forever unless Blizz does something. He relies on staying far away and not drawing enemy fire and as soon as they decide to start targeting him and/or switch to Harambe to monkeyjump in and delete him there's not a damn thing he can do.
