The story ends with rank 7, just like Vanu and Gnath, but you can level up to 8 afterwards.
You don't get an extra 3 dailies that day when going from 7 -> 8.

You don't get the 3 quest bonus for rank 7. Now you'll have to do the quests for 12 days to get the final rank and get a shitty quest that takes 30 seconds to complete of moogles thanking you.

You don't get the bonus 3 when you "complete" the storyline.

I forget that a lot of people didn't do the quests before daily reset when the servers came up.

There's no fiasco. Some people just left.
