I'm not sure why anyone would play it on console when you can play it just fine on a laptop and get mods

I'm not too hot about the idea Tbh, and just because of pc mustard race etc.
I think the directionnal attacks are going to be a little bit complicated with a pad.
But apparently its working fine on the nvidia shield some maybe there will be no problems. I don't know.
At least the way the menus are laid out and how the inventory works makes it probably easier to play with a pad.
and like the problem will be the absence of mods, wich are, like, at least 80% of the reasons I play warband still

Historical fiction is usually based off history anyway, like this one knight during the siege of Acre or whatever. Alt history is something else entirely and most idiots who write it have no idea what they're doing without obvious political bias.

secondary sources nigga, let others do the guesswork for you based on corresponding works, archaeology, etc. and you can get a more complete picture of the era you're interested in

it's impossible to see through Roman perfidy when reading just their own sources for example

Sharpe was comfy as fuck to read as a sort of palate cleanser but I'd choose shit written by actual contemporaries

And that's the problem, you have to do fuckalltons of work trying to get a 'complete' picture which is rarely ever even 50% complete and is almost always impersonal and grand in scale as well as beyond biased even using more than one source
Nothing's wrong with that but it makes for a poor novel-style story for the most part, which should be personal and have relate-able characters in addition to a gripping story.
Don't get me wrong, I love reading history as its own kind of story, but neither does it scratches the same its nor does it read in the same style. It's like saying "go read high fantasy" when someone wants something similar to Anna Karenina.

you should always play the hardest difficulty of any game right away, thats how you improve. People who say "I start on normal and work my way up :^)" are lying casuals who start on normal and then play a different game.

It'd be nice if the game let me see my units equipment but holy shit even Morghs is so slow to pop around. I can't even click the gear in their item-listing to see more about it, which means I need to write notes in notepad so I can actually compare anything.

What are the thoughts on spear and shield versus sword and shield? In Warband of course, not real life.

Shield and spear is a terrible idea without upstab

it was a test to see if i could get it to work, and you can but it's awkward to use off horseback and a pain in terms of item flags
i'm only limited by what animations are available
i've considered using either the 1h stab animation or the musket butt animation from NW/WFAS as a right stab, but i don't want to use animations that are originally one direction and change them to another because it's confusing

I have 3 cavalry units out of my 40 man army, so I can't let them charge recklessly since they're so much faster than the infantry but not a big enough force to survive a charge (they get surrounded etc.). How can I organize them so they come along roughly at the same time/rate as the infantry?

Use hold f1 to send them far to the left/right of the field

Either A. Wait for infantry to engage and have them charge the rear, or B. Send them after the enemy archers

I just dont know what to do in VC. I go around trading and making good money, but the entire combat aspect just seems so unfulfilling.

I wish there was a way to throw money at a faction to make it dominate, instead of messing with that yourself. Just hiring a bunch of top tier mercs and giving them to a lord or something. Then i could play a real merchant ally.

I did this

>Merchant for about 1.5 years, made shitloads
>Got myself 4 Skeids
>Set up refuge, maxed it out
>Decked out me and my followers in top tier gear
>Began amassing army at said refuge

From there you can pretty much do whatever you want, I suggest getting about 200+ men together, getting them ranked up, then doing port assaults for absolute slaughters

if you have a bandit leader as a prisoner and 50+ other prisoners, you can send them off as an army to go fuck shit up

Looking at Morghs in Warwolf, the Japs are supposed to have a Tier 4/5/6 Cav tree: Yabusame, Yabusame Elite, Akasonae.

Has anybody seen them? Wondering why nothing can be upgraded to them. Yabusame are Horse Archers which is neat, then the Akasonae ditches the bow for a Nodachi. Or maybe for 4 Nodachi, since it's listed 4 times for some reason.

thats the thing, theres a bunch of neat stuff in the game, but its not very inspiring to me at all.

All the factions are just.. theres a bunch of squabbling christian kingdoms, and then theres some vikings that are just basically bandits.

Theres no real connection to inspire me to work towards a goal, i just dont care about any of the factions. I guess then im supposed to make my own faction or something, but honestly.. i can have a comfy refuge on an island and make far more money playing a neutral trader than i could with fifes out my ass.

Basically they have managed to make a game that makes me just not feel like its in my best interest to be violent.

you could start a new game as a faction king, that might inspire you to create your own empire

Kinda helps when you have muh heritage/historical interest in the period to connect you

Yeah, there are several. Hubaoqi (Cav) from Qingzhoubing, Baimaqibing (Cav) from Qianweibing, an unaffiliated Songqibing. They're all labeled T6 (trp_cc_c_6 troop_china_cav_6), so he fucked up or just couldn't decide.
