/ddg/ - Dragon's Dogma General

Tips:
You can change vocations at level 10 at the Gran Soren inn or BBI.
Character appearance can be changed later on.
You don't need pawns, but they help.

>tfw your pawn gets posted
always a grand feel

What purpose does this object serve?

A bucket? Dear god.

Hat of Shame

What about the pole and the hooked chain and that weird base? And why is it arranged that way?

It's probably all for butchering.

w-what

Probably for butchering.

Oh come on user, pole to hang the carcass and a bucket to catch the blood and guts.

is this from DDO?

You lads are pretty clever. The best I could come up with was "bathing".

yes

well it does look like a weird set up for anything large but it's the closest thing I could think of

How can I track down Reynard easily? I want to give him the journal to solve his daddy issues so I can move on to Reward and Responsibility

>tell yourself you are going to play video games
>don't play video games
tomorrow. i swear

No!
You stop posting right now and you start a session of Dragon's Dogma this instant user.

>want to play Dragon's Dogma and murder a lot of shit
>starts the game
>I'm in Gran Loren
>4 quests are unmarked
>the last one requires me to go see Selene
>and walk AAAAAAAAAALL the way there

Fuck walking.

Me, all day. Only then it's past midnight and I start and regret.

>have PC set up so I can use it while laying in bed
>able to alt tab out of game and read Veeky Forums at any moment
It's the only way I've managed to cope. I end up splitting my time 30:70 between the game and Veeky Forums.

Nevermind, he finally appeared on my map.

Eh, why not plan ahead what you'll play for a couple weeks before you do so instead of starting and stopping every single day?

How can I trigger Escort Duty early? Do I have to give Fournival shit?

paizuri

post comfy

Can I redo a quest? I'd like to hear my Arisen get whipped again.

Why the fuck do mystic knights not carry their shield always in combat pose and only when blocking

it looks so dumb just whipping out a giant ass shield out of your back pocket every 2 seconds

You wouldn't like Kingdom of Amalur.

Is Warrior the worst vocation in BB? I can solo all of BB with all vocations except Warrior.

No one likes it... ;_;

I love hanging around the beach in Cassardis, it's super comfy.

I remember trying it, going for a stealth run.

The bosses always teleport in your face, taunt you, then teleport away. The second you enter in their room, they teleport in, find you immediately, and charge you.

Fucking piece of shit.

I don't think stealth is really worth it in Amalur.

No shit Captain Obvious.

That fucking game fucked my state up

How hard is it to pull off Arc of ___ skills in hard mode and BBI?

I really like it but I'm playing on normal right now so idk if it'll become impractical later, from what everyone says it sounds like warrior is only good for its jump attack too.

It started great.
>backstab oneshots enemies, pretty fun without being too broken
It get shit real quickly.
>most beasts enemies don't get killed on the spot, instead take massive damage
>enemies quickly turn into damage sponge
>take 14,235 hits to die
I fucking hate when they do that.

My first run was as a mage and I twoshotted the final boss. It was supposed to have four forms. I just straight up skipped two of them. Don't let your memes be dreams or be a dick-ass thief

If I restart the game, does my previous pawn disappear? As in, no one can rent my pawn from the rift?

Or is the rift full of old pawns from Arisens that were deleted?

I don't think I ever play mage. Except in Diablo-likes. For Kingdom of Amalur, Dark Souls, Dragon's Dogma or the Elder Scrolls, I always go for Warrior and end with abusing the bow.

Except in Dark Souls where the bows kinda suck. I don't think I ever used a single spell in Dragon's Dogma.

You hang the bucket from the hook. When not in use, you put the bucket like that to drip dry.

I always thought Feste had long hair under this thing.

you used the fire top spell, didnt you

>got a thousand kisses ring and a violet ring so decide to try immolation+tk on awakened daimon for once instead of going mano-a-mano with ninefolds
>he dies in seconds
>immolation is over half my damage because I don't have adhesion yet
Magick Archer truly is a poorly named Flaming Daggerman.

I almost always play mages or archers, sometimes I'll play a spellsword/enchanter type character. Rarely play pure melee niggers, Dark Souls is the only exception really since I usually go with spears or swords in that. Magick Archer is a godsend, though I'd prefer if you could also shoot normal arrows that didn't home and had a trajectory and shit.

your old pawn will be overwritten once you upload the new one

ok thanks

I think that this screenshot is a very lonesome, forlorn kind of comfy.

Jesus. That genuinely spooked me before realised it was Selene. It looked like some kind of spookum with a giant toothy head or something.

your brain damage is your best feature

being a stalker isn't comfy

>lonesome
>forlorn
>taking pics of young girls through open windows

I blame society.

I see what you're talking about but I think it's pretty cute.

So, is mystic knight only worth it if focusing on spells?

It's good regardless, the spells are stronger though. Like MA, you can even play it as a support class if you're a madman. In fact I wonder how well it would do against daimon using the holy wall thing on the shield with a firing squad of ranger pawns behind you...

not him, but how much worse would it be going full physical?

I'm currently building a warrior/assassin but I want to keep my options open for trying out MK especially since I like Abyssal Anguish

You get plenty of magic from weapons generally. I'm actually not sure how it works with MK though since you cast with your sword and full physical swords seem to work fine. If magic cannon works the same as the gazer's cannon, physical attack on the weapon that strikes it determines the magic damage produced (because a low level character does 0 damage, only knockdown, on that cannon to the eye), so the other sword spells may work similarly.

Can I not bother with minmaxing then, and just switch to it now at level 11?

Physical MK is great. I use Abyssal Anguish, one physical skill, and Stone Jungle for nuking things on the side (even with physial based stats/gear, it deals a shit load of damage and stuns big enemies).

Physical MK is so strong, that I actually once killed Grigori during the chase sequence when he's breathing fire from the hallway. It skipped the entire boss fight sequence and the credits rolled right then and there. The maxed out BBI mace gives you attack power on par with a Warrior (it's only like 100 weaker maybe), plus the fast moveset of a Fighter, plus the stacked damage from AA and whatever other enchantments you have. Physical MK is one of the most OP builds in the game, it's just not as versatile as some other classes (though you can fix that by carrying a staff to switch to when needed).

>min/maxing

I'm not min-maxing in the sense of planning out a build and how many times I'm going to level x class, but I'm trying to keep my stats on the physical side since I know I don't really like pure magic casting that much.

Thanks user, good to know that's an option.

Most of your attack stat comes from later OP weapons.

does assassin get more interesting than climbing onto something and mashing hundred kisses on its weakpoint

i'm still early on

you climb and gouge with a sword instead

so no

>Physical MK is so strong, that I actually once killed Grigori during the chase sequence when he's breathing fire from the hallway. It skipped the entire boss fight sequence and the credits rolled right then and there.
Strider can easily kill him in the first encounter with brainsplitter spam and stacked augments. Even easier with the maker's finger.

>mfw every time I remember there is absolutely no fucking way Valmiro survives through his adventure

That's obvious though. You wouldn't normally expect it to be possible with non-shitter classes.

Actually, I don't know what to think.
His quests definitely make him look like a weak ass, but he as a good physical build and if you talk to him between quest, he gifts you rare items only found in dangerous areas. Also when you complete the last quest, he gives you post-game monster materials.
He's probably a weakling and those gifts are just RPG sheanigans.

Pretty sure Maker's Arrow only takes one healthbar to BBI bosses.

>mystic knight
>non-shitter
barehanded warrior or bust

Good thing Grigori isn't BBI.
youtu.be/NsRRmcErZ-M?t=74

>Good thing Grigori isn't BBI.
Sorry, it's been two hours since I woke up but my brain refuses to activate.

>relying on Warrior's OP stat gains
Confirmed shitter. If you were an MLG pro like me you would play barehanded Mage.

Just kill yourself my man.

Valmiro isn't a weakling, he's feigning being hurt so you'll give him curatives because he ran out and he's too much of a cheapass to buy more. The only reason you're the Arisen and not him is that when the dragon attacked he was thirty miles away near Gran Soren slaying the cockatrice that Salvation would later resurrect.

>having access to feather jump
fucking casul

>buying any core upgrades
>buying any augments at all
>buying any skills
I bet you play with pawns and use curatives too you fucking faggot.

pretty sure feather jump is default on mage, you don't purchase it

Doesn't it only work with a staff equipped anyway?

I only play manly classes for manly men like me so I wouldn't actually know.

>thatsbullshitbutibelieveit.jpg

Now I'm tempted to make a Valmiro Arisen.

>posting a cat with congenital AIDS infection in its eyes

that's pretty gross user

Does Acuity have any effect on Abyssal Anguish?

Hi guys, I was looking at this sheet and don't quite understand it: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EBa1CNhY9LXq7qbyV6Gj4jxBmHSbc3ASp3rIrBrAxpI/edit#gid=274777126

So from what I understand of DD's damage system, each attack has a multiplier for your character's base Strength/Magic stats, and another multiplier for the weapon's stats. So the sheet has those values included, which is basically what you'd expect. But then it ALSO has an extra stat: "Power"? Does anybody know what that's supposed to mean? Is it a flat amount of damage added after the multipliers to strength/magic, or something?

Nevermind, I found the document that explains it.

Anyone kind enought to gift me a Feral Cape ?
It would go really well with my barbarian outfit.

>I usually go with spears
Mein negger.

yes

sent ;)

Really ?
I didn't even told you the name of my pawn !
it's Octavia

how many levels does it generally max out vocations early on?

5?
10?

15 to 30, maybe? Depends on vocation, what level you are, which enemies you're fighting, etc.

When I do get "locked on rails" for the final boss fight? I still got BBI to finish twice before fighting the S-man but I want to get as close to that as possible but I just can't remember. Can I safely hand in the 20 wakestones and go further or?

Once you give the 20 wakestone you are locked into the endgame.
Do NOT give the 20 wakestone unless you're set out to finish the game.

Phew, thanks a lot!

give me some magick archer builds

mainly gonna be using the bow

So if I have ten red dots in my vocation, I'm supposed to switch it, so I don't skip leg day, right?

It is so satisfying when your pawn does something really fucking good. I've noticed after learning enemies' weaknesses my sorcerer has started to apply the right spells and it's like some weird pride over a virtual pseudo-child of yours, love it

If you want a balanced build, yes.

>first time my girl gets on an adventure without me
>has learned something about skelletons, and got called "cute"
:3
