If you can't land the hooks you can't play roadhog. Master those and then left click+Melee to win. Also that self heal can tank through a lot of damage, don't be afraid to just pop that shit in the middle of a team fight.

Increase rate of fire and sharpness on fan the hammer. Back when it was 70 dmg per bullet it was okay for a shot or 2 to miss from the sporadic uncontrollable spread~ now it's not so okay for 1 bullet to miss

It's hard to describe, you hook different characters differently. Tanks/Bastion/snipers just aim center mass but really mobile characters you just have to clock the time/distance the hook goes and try to put it where you think they're going to be.

There should be a drinking game about matchmaking posts at this point.
