new player for GE here, i did my friend point pulls and dint get anything special, i did 1 rare pull and got a 4 * Fran. right now im using the main 2 MCs, mech terra, fran, and this cool dragoon waifu 2 star.
do i want to blow all my tickets and currency on rare pulls now, or are there banners and such like in RK that i should wait for?

You get the same kind of "boosted rate" banners like in RK but for units. You can wait for good units that are boosted to decide to pull or not.
Changing threads for that is somewhat ridiculous, but I guess it gives me an excuse to give another threadly reminder that Vayne Solidor did nothing wrong.

You re-roll until you get one of the S-tier characters.
Even then, there's a Kefka/Golbez event coming up on July 8th. My recommendation is to re-roll until you can pull one of the S-tier characters in the first 5 tickets, then save the rest.
I got lucky and by my ~25th reroll I got Kain, then Exdeath.
I'm holding on to all those extra tickets and lapiz now.

So I'm playing FF 13-2 for the first time and I don't even know where to begin harping on shit design. Why did you design a combat system that wants to be used almost instantly but instead you need to put in at least 4 inputs with an activation delay AND a second of lag. Then there's the fact that there's all these cool items that require secret items and they don't tell you where to look for either of them.
I don't know if I'm getting too old at 21 but every time they try to appeal to emotions it has absolutely no effect. I honestly couldn't give less of a shit about what happens to any of these characters or worlds.
I wanted to finish this so I could play Lightning Returns since it seems to have great reviews but I don't think I can make it.
