I haven't been involved in the speedrunning community aside from posting here a little since 2013 and watching Clint Stevens a little earlier this year and late last year, but after this GDQ I think I'll legitimately pick up a game, it's just a matter of what, I greatly enjoy 2D Zelda games on the GBC

Maybe I will stick around here, too but I don't really like annoying people with my being clueless about the scene

The Link's Awakening run yesterday was the best 2D Zelda speedrun I've seen, really interesting and engaging. Seems like it has quite a few fun glitches as well.

Because esports are competitive and the gameplay is more varying than speedrunning. Speedrunners are just grind monkeys who sit in their basement all day repeating the same things over and over, never meeting each other in person except for these autismfests twice a year.

Yes I found it very interesting, too, probably really hard work to get down. It's my favorite game but I think if I speedrun a Zelda game it would be Oracle of Ages or A Link Between Worlds

People submit their runs a few months before the event and a committee of some organizers and SDA members decide what gets to the event.
Runners who got their run in have to "proof" that they are practicing before the marathon but still every time some chokers get in and fuck up.
