it turns out the loading screen gets stuck and doesn't cleared until I press escape

This never goes away for me, and the black effect holds for many inventory icons, and other things in the game. Everything is full black if I tick the "textures" box in the settings.

I assumed it was a Linux issue because I've never seen anyone else talk about it.

I also run linux and run into it, but it doesn't happen all the time for me. On my laptop I keep textures off, even though they don't lower performance that much. On my desktop I run it at ultra sans AA, AO and lower render distance.
