They subtract from the enemy's atk/matk. It's a flat reduction, but it's very early on damage calculation, so it does make quite a difference. Specially for multihit skills.

Attack + skill damage multiplified by a few modifiers minus defense multiplied by level difference penalty added to elemental defense (if applicable) multiplied by a few modifers.
The result is then modified by most other modifiers.

Cartar Stroke should now deal 20% (25%?) of the damage taken while charging, meaning if you charge it for 15 levels, 20% of the damage you take on that duration will be added to the final damage

Musket doesn't really interest me and I'm mostly in Dex anyways (74 str and 139 dex to be exact currently).
I know it wouldn't be too late to adjust that still, but I'm still not seeing the appeal of Musket over other options.

user the only skill that scales well with dex is snipe, all the rest of the skills scale significantly better with str.

Because in literally 100% of cases going FULL (STAT) will give you more damage than a mixture of two stats. The damage formula in this game is exceedingly shitty.

If a skill does more than ~1k skill damage, it scales better with DEX. You're working off of outdated information. The guy who made the STR vs DEX calculator had STR double dipping in the calculation, which made it way better than it is in-game.

Because its typically better. strength isn't a really great stat, if it gets fixed to scale better you'd see a lot less "Max dex" builds.

Proofs? Headshot isn't that strong to begin with, Penetration is unrealiable, the only argument there would be for Covering Fire, and I doubt you'd get much more than an average of 10% difference between the popular stat distributions

The 400% is a multiplier at the very end which includes the 6k+ damage, not just a 400% to only physical attack which would be very lame and make you right.

Headshot and Penetration are on fairly low cds, but aren't musketeer's most reliable damage dealers, those are Snipe and Covering Fire

Headshot inflicts knockback and has an alright animation time, damage is ok.

Penetration deals ok damage and its a nice "fuck off" if you manage to land all of the five shots
