each piece of jewelry adds 1 turn worth of hunger every 20th turn,

the check is actually only on turns divisible by 20 I think, so if you're autistic enough you can take your ring off on the 19th turn and put it back on on the 21st

not to mention there are three rings that increase hunger more than the normal 1 tick every 20 turns:
conflict, hunger, and regen
also ring of slow digest doesn't prevent jewelry hunger, so if you're wearing nothing but sd you still get the 1-in-20 food tick
