The time for "1 confirmation" is arbitrary. Satoshi chose 10 minutes but it just as easily could've been 5 minutes or 20 minutes. Many altcoins choose shorter confirmation times but it's only the tech-illiterate that actually think this makes them better.
1 confirmion in bitcoin represents ~10 minutes * total computing power of the network in expended resources. Other altcoins can achieve several confirmations in the time it takes Bitcoin to achieve 1 but the relative security of those confirmations will still be dwarfed by Bitcoin's 1 confirmation. If we graph "certainty a transaction cannot be reversed" on the Y and "time elapsed" on the X Bitcoin will win every single time.
It's like taking a $100 bill to the bank and exchanging it for $1's and somehow thinking you now have more money.
