this isn't surprising desu. most tf2 players are pubbers who rely on offclassing gimmicks instead of good DM.
That engi player with 0 kills? I bet you he's never tried to get good with scout, demo, or soldier.
getting at least decent with one of those main classes HUGELY improves your performance with all other classes, the DM just helps you so much.
A lot of pubbers in tf2 are also children who have never mastered fps fundamentals, such as:

>taking unfair fights that favor you, such as 2v1
>avoiding unfair fights that DON'T favor you, such as 1v6
>if the enemy isn't shooting at you, that makes them easier to shoot. If they are shooting at an ally, this is your chance to get kills
>if they just capped second and have full uber and are all alive, don't try to cap second.
