Going off of the character planner, Faith and Int scale equally for Pyromancy in DaS2. I had heard it was a 50/50 combined stat requirement. Which explains why all my builds failed.

For Hex it's 50/50. For Pyromancy the Fire Bonus just goes up every 2 points of either. So You can go pure Pyro/Miracle or Pyro/Sorcery and miss out on nothing. If you're going Master Of All Magic or Hex you'll want both, but holy fuck is it expensive and makes the game harder if you try to rush it.

everyone raves on the damage but you can hardly ever land the weapon because axes in ds3 are just straight swords without the speed and range

But DkS2 handled its own lore with only a handful of references to Lordran's era.

When you hit it while it's buffed it's great damage. But like you said the speed and range makes it so that it's hard to hit at all, without the damage it would be as mediocre as all the other axes.
