Ok, serious EU4 question. Now that we have the territory mechanic, is it even blobbing any more as long as you dont make them into states? I mean the whole point of territory is that its not directly under your control, like a vassal, but without the problems vassals have.

Spanish (here, the marriage was between Portugal and Castille instead of Aragon) didn't really colonize heavily in that direction unlike our world. Also, received help at various times from other European powers to harass the Spanish, or others. Also, Qingqiu was getting them technologically and such.

You now have to core things twice. Once for a claim, then again after making it a key part of your country called a state. Both at half price of course. Non states are at 75% autonomy, ike say Holland taking over the asian islands before, or Portugal entering Africa. I figure if they never really had control of that territory, just puppeted it really, would it be blobbing if you, say, took over your whole trade zone and puppeted it to keep the trade for yourself? Or taking part of north Africa to keep the pirates at bay? Or set up the holy land but kept them under your control?
