>Pure Garbage
>1970s
Please explain, I can't think of much from the 1970s beyond disco that wasn't also part of the '60s or '80s.

The 1970's were just disgusting in general

>fashion was shit, bell bottom pants, ridiculous sideburns, stupid boots
>cars were oversized and looked like shit
>everything was puke green, brownish orange
>pollution was out of control, economy was shit, crime rates were out of control

The only good thing was the music

Why don't you like the 20's and 30's user?

The 50s cannot be beat. Absolute summit of stylistic achievement for both men and women, with the most aesthetic cinema ever produced. Hitchcock's 50s work should be watched by every child on this board.

1960s style was great until hippie movements were appropriated and subsequently misinterpreted by high fashion.

Note, I'm a Marxist, not any kind of alt-right cuckold. I have little political affection for the decade.

70s>80s>60s
Deal with it

70s were the epitome of awful, at least in the US.

>manufacturing industry collapsing, causing immense poverty
>formerly great midwestern cities like Detroit, St. Louis and Cleveland reduced to Africa tier hellscapes full of urban rot and crime (if you played the game Manhunt, that's what it looked like IRL)
>hugely demoralizing loss in Vietnam making people think we will lose the cold war
>Nixon presidency marked by Watergate and the loss in Vietnam followed by two bumblefuck incompetent presidents
>drug addicted Vietnam veterans everywhere
>radical leftist ideas creeping into the mainstream, Marxist militias operating in the open, 3rd wave feminism, people starting to openly hate their own country
>murder/crime rates at all time high
>drug use on the rise, porn industry on the rise, hippie movement and New Age quacks from the 60s become mainstream, society indulges in mindless apathetic hedonism and kooky esoteric cultism awaiting the end of the world
>general violence, nuclear war looming, sense of bleakness and dread are reflected in entertainment as most films are slasher horrors, post apocalyptic fiction and gore porn

I wish the 50's had carried over more of the Art Deco style. It's such an iconic American art style and it was the quintessential American decade. With that said, fuck yourself commie scum.

Also I should mention that I realize the style originated in France, but you don't think of it as a French style. You think of New York, Chicago, and early LA.

you're listing all the reasons why the 1970s were the top. 70s were raw as hell not this fantasy role-playing shit

You're the role player here if you think being ass poor and surrounded by violent hobos on meth is "top".

that doesn't make any sense

I think of Miami if anything.

Floridian? Probably a regional thing. I didn't even know Miami had an Art Deco district desu.

Ohioan actually but Miami Deco is pretty famous.

Well TIL

>20s
>shit tier

It was the last great decade before the decline of Europe

>20s
>Great for Europe
No. Try the 1910's or the Fin die Siecle in general

>the 1910s

The fucking WW1 and Spanish flu lmao?

Things were impeccable until August 1914. Those 4 years were better than anything during the 1920's for Europe.

am I the only one who hates the 80s simply because of the music

I mean the aesthetics weren't too bad, especially in european cars, but every lick of music (especially rock) is so fucking over zealous and unnatural sounding, it all has this echoing ring

>>everything was puke green, brownish orange
This is the worst part from an A ES T H E T I C perspective.

70s were horrible by pretty much every standard

I love the 80's because it was the decade that made electronic music big and I love electronic music

muh synths

Not him, but I bet you listen to new retro synth wave like a pleb instead of post-vaporwave like a man.

Not that guy but vaporwave isn't even 80s, it's full on 90s Windows 95 multimedia era memeshit. Synthwave is obviously superior and ACTUAL 80s film music is the best.

I listen to actual 80's electronic music genres like italodisco.
youtube.com/watch?v=zDV_dBYp4h0
I do listen to NRW sometimes though

This post/thread exemplifies the fact that Veeky Forums is not, nor ever will be Veeky Forums.

So much of one shitty opinion in a single post my autism can't contain it.

Sage in all fields.

POST-Vaporwave and yes, vaporwave is, in fact, reminiscent of late 80's pop music. Most of post-vaporwave is late 70's/early 80's except that stupid hardvapor shit. Synthwave is just repackaged hard trance with synth beats. It's garbage.

>Marxist militias operating in the open

What?

Aesthetic wise, I look up to the 70's a lot when it comes to design.

There's just something so fresh about it.

Synthwave is actually very similar to original soundtracks but much more polished.

>post vapor

Go away with these memes.

Black Panthers.

Weather Underground too

It isn't even a meme. Vaporwave is dead. Post-vapor genres like Future Funk, Glo-fi, New Nu-disco and Vaportrap took over. I really wish MACROSS 82-99 didn't switch genres into... whatever the fuck rap shit he is doing now, because he was king of Post-vapor but people like SAINT PEPSI and the rest of the Keats Collective are still kicking.

>OSTs
Yeah no. Most had musical scores then.

Back to /mu/ retard.

I don't even a /mu/tant

So, when are we going to stop biting off 80's aesthetics and start biting off 90's aesthetics?

I want a grunge renaissance already.

But there's already a grunge renaissance and you're living in it:

youtube.com/watch?v=z71df68qLp0

Also iirc Grohl did some new grunge work but don't quote me on that

Grunge is gay and gross

Just wait until your kids are trying to recreate early to mid 2000's ska, pop-punk, and nu-metal aesthetics

What exactly is the aesthetic of the 2010s?

Hipsters

muh flat graphics

Memes, post-irony, hipsters and fuccbois. Basically Veeky Forums+not Veeky Forums

The 2000's are way harder to describe.

>Grunge Renaissance

It's called Nickelback

>pop-punk emos, dirty south rap, metalheads
There's the 2000's in a nutshell

>nu metal

I thank Jesus everyday that that stupid thing is already over.

You forgot bubblegum pop and boy bands.

Emos and juggalos.

>tfw 20 years from now some teen will be romanticizing the fucking juggalos like they do with greasers and hippies now

M I N I M A L I S M
A N D
I R O N Y
F A M

Or you could go to your local college and find out.

Boy bands are the 90s

Boy bands were all but broken up by 2000 and didn't really see a resurgence until the 2010s. I'll give you bubblegum pop though, but that was pretty well dead by 2003

HEY HEY
YOU YOU

Avril Lavigne is teen rock/pop-punk, not bubblegum pop.

I DON'T LIKE YOUR GIRLFRIEND

Boy bands started in the 80s and were at their peak in mid 90s.

NO WAY NO WAY

And this...whatever this style (visually at least), was everywhere in the 2000s. No idea if it even has a name. Think Oakley type glasses, bright colours, tribal tattoos and jewelry, neon lights, discmans and electronic music.

youtube.com/watch?v=SA-v1aRvo0k

>leaving out fucking valley girls
They were literally the stereotype of dumb airhead/mean girls from 2001 to like 2009

youtube.com/watch?v=BvY_iK6klwk

More

It's club music. Hasn't changed at all since the 1990s desu. Almost seems like Eurodance, but I won't take it that far.

Valleygirls aren't even a 2000s thing though. They not only still exist, they're far more prominent now than they were then.

That's The Matrixwave.

I don't even hear teen girls use that obnoxious accent anymore though

if anything, valley girls have been replaced by tumblr le problem glasses girls, imo

Fuck is a valley girl

You certainly haven't been paying attention then. Either way, the stereotype originated in the 1980s, hardly a 2000s phenomenon.

Like, you don't even, like know what a Valley Girl is? That's so unfetch! Literally kill yourself, poser.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valley_girl
according to wikipedia it was an 80's thing, but for some reason I always thought it was a 2000's thing

>one day people born years afterwards will yearn to live through the mid 2000's
That'll be a trip
youtube.com/watch?v=1ZB4e4-2io0

Well that's a feels trip I didn't need. Good night Veeky Forums

Memes really are the fabric of reality. Holy shit.

>its been a whole fucking decade

Man, the 2000's had shit tier aesthetics and shit tier music, I'm glad most of it isn't memorable.

On one hand I agree

but on the other hand I'm beginning to feel a little bit of latent nostalgia already.

Mid 2000's internet was undeniably the best though

>people getting nostalgic over the 2000s

Fuck millennial shitters I swear to God

>he doesn't feel nostalgia for his teenage years
You're either too old or too young to be here

People will get nostalgia over anything if its separated by enough time

Every time you bring up an old meme, you're doing that.

Go ahead and pretend.

>1930s style
>meh

Wrong wrong wrong.

The fedora of the 20th century decades

I'm 21 and remember the whole decade and feel absolutely no nostalgia for it. I hated literally everything that happened, from the music to the fashion to the politics. It was a horrible decade and I wish I had more 90s memories besides the two or so years I was actually old enough to develop them. Although the 10s are pretty fucking insane I really enjoy it a lot more.

Isn't post-irony still just irony? Like being ironic ironically? Or am I missing something?

Also, 2000's aesthetic is dirty south rap, emo hair, reference parody (think Epic Movie and abridged series), Teen romance, and army chic.

Porn from the early 2000s internet is god tier.

>le only people of certain age post on Veeky Forums meme

It's just a website like any other

Is there any merit to the theory that nostalgia for decades goes in cycles of 30 years? Are the twenties really going to be a 90s/60s revival decade?

>posting on Veeky Forums over the age of 30
>being an underageb&
There's two options here and neither of them are good for you.

I'm exactly 30. At least I didn't waste my early 20s in this shithole like you are doing right now.

I'm 19 and I hate the 10's while I miss the 00's.
Maybe I was just young enough to absorb the good parts from the 00's while blotting out the bad

Seems to be the trend. 80s nostalgia has been big for a while.

grampa get off the internet, i'm trying to make a phonecall

youtu.be/1glM0LgjCOY
Brought tears to my eyes desu. Just watched a significantly formative year of my childhood in 10 minutes

You're right, it's much worse. You're wasting quite literally the most important years of your life on this website. Your 30's are your best years senpai. You have all the knowledge and experience from your 20's and your body is still in good order (ah who am I kidding, you're a fatasfatass). Go out and do something constructive, gramps. At least we have time to be wasting.

I still can't grasp how there are people born after the cold war, let alone being proud of it.

>there are posters on this site born after GW's second term
aint that some shieeet

>snot nosed kid and probavly still a student trying to lecture me

When I was 20 I was partying like a motherfucker, I sure didn't spend my time posting homo frogs and making troll accounts on twitter. You're literally missing out on real fun in order to participate in shitposting circlejerks.

Let me guess, shit was so cash, right?

fucking normalfags

So you're an old fart AND a newfag?

>2 a.m. on a Sunday after partying the full night before
My best friend is a club DJ. I was out all night last night and drug in at 8 this morning. Don't lecture me about partying there gramps.

Yeah man not everyone can be a career neckbeard like you.

>living in America/Canada

As if your life wasn't pitiful already
