First for agdg

Second for motavio. And anime.

Who is this semen demon?

First for C++ is trash.

I think all thats left for my jam game is sound.
How do you know when a game is done?

I'm really intimidated by this place. I've only been programming for a year or two, and never anything outside of the classroom. You guys seem to know a lot about this field, though.

Rule 63'd Motavio

Take everything with a grain of salt and remember that is it Agdg.
The a being amateur

...

>been programming for over a year
>intimidated about learning some new algorithms and reading through a game engine's API

Does not compute.

Pic related is agdg. Lots of opinions with little knowledge to back them up

>tfw one day you made a new thread without knowing that there was already one

That's not reassuring, I hate programming.
I just want to play the game I imagined :'(
But, surprisingly enough, I seem more motivated than most of you and I spend my days programming, even if I hate it.

>mfw I want to be Kojima
>mfw I'll never be Kojima

I only stopped feeling intimidated after 4 years of programming

I don't mind reading and learning algorithms. Where should I start, though?

WHERE THE FUCK IS YOUR SPACE JAM GAME

>put that logo in your game
>program closes after it finishes playing
Just like my AGDG games

Thought it would be cool to be able to change the background of the game, and whatever blends in with the background disappears.

Shit idea, you're very limited to how things look and you can't differentiate between a box and a wall.

I worry for your games user. This isn't the field to be in if you hate programming.

I have more pressing matters at hand. I wonder if I will still have time to make a space game afterwards

Nothing wrong about that.
Here's the order from most least to most likely to fail:

1. Love making game and want to play dream game
2. Hate making game and want to play dream game
3. Hate making game and doesn't care about playing finished game
4. Love making game and doesn't care about playing finished gams

How do I just like make game?

gay art style with a weird vibe since it looks kiddy and cartoony but obviously caters to the artists fetishes

Check out the engines in the adgd website
tools.aggydaggy.com/#

Decide which one you want to use. The most popular 2D engine here is Gamemaker Studio and the most popular 3D engine is probably a split between Unity and Unreal Engine

It's easy, aliens invade the planet so every nation need to unite and create gigantic robots to fight them back. And at the end the planet is half destroyed so there is no point of divide everything again.

Yeah that's weird user. And not very intuitive either.

Nice experimenting though.

Its progressing great.
I didn't want to spend too much time on it to detract from my main project. But I needed a break from my game to just dick around for 2 weeks. I don't know if thats a good idea, but I think it is.

>Wanting to be like Kojima
user I'm sorry

Don't be, the fact that they have nothing to show for themselves should be a real red flag.

How's your first week on AGDG buddy

So how long does it take for me to get my qt indie dev gf?

You should be more intimidated by Reddit frankly.
All we do here is shitpost and occasional make a mini game in unity or gamemaker

Judging from all the girl indie devs I've seen on the internet, I would not advise dating them.

7 inches

yo you could be here 20 years but that wouldnt make that artstyle any less gay

i wish i was a girl

>qt
>indie
>dev
>gf
You can probably get a trans bf/gf at best

hey guys im making a Space Jam game in source would u like to play it

...

Excuse me? I fit the criteria.

whats the ideal ratio between video and game

They do exist. Having worked at a couple dev companies of different sizes. They do exist. Almost exclusively artist though.
My programmer fetish goes unfulfilled except by anime. 2D just isn't as good

the true idiot is the one that chooses to reply to idiots.

stop replying to him.

>You guys seem to know a lot about this field, though.
HAHAHAHAHAHAH

Let's design an AGDG mascot
Start giving me your suggestions and I'll draw it at the end

Oh, yeah. Independent, unemployed game developers make us girls tremble in anticipation. I only visit these threads because being around you all makes me wet.

>You guys seem to know a lot about this field, though.
Can't tell if sarcasm or an idiot

0 to 100.
Maybe 5 to 95 if absolutely necessary.
Text/voices during gameplay is best way to deliver the story.

Fuck off, newfag. We've already got Motavio.

An extremely malformed and moody 3d modelled guy.

>us girls
Here's your (You)

job's filled

cute loli cyborg vocaloid with mechanical arm

cute represent art
vocaloid music
cyborg is programming
mechanical arm is gameplay mechanics

It really isn't, unless you're fantastic at keeping that wordiness down.

All text / voices during gameplay leads to is the Half Life problem where you're trapped in a room with someone for 5 minutes while they talk at you and you have nothing to do but jump around. At least cinematics are, you know, cinematic.

That's good to know. Thanks!

Yeah, that's why she is posted every thread.

Yeah, one day I'll find something fun that clicks. Maybe.

Next jam should be a dance competition.

>/agdg/ - Acute Gender Dysphoria General

What the fuck do I have to do to get progress (You)s around here?

Be honest, you'd fuck Monster Girl Island guy.

I don't know what's going on there, probably I'm stupid
C++ is shit, my deving skills too
I spent 2 hours writing and re-writing those fucking headers
I still don't know if pParticlePool[i] = NULL is correct way to make empty place for new instance in array
And if something like this makes problem, handling all the enemies will be bigger pain in the ass
It's 3AM, time for break

It may look choppy but it's not the matter, old hdd doesn't handle recording too well.

Post your game and I'll give you some honest feedback.

oh i forget
loli represent amateur

Post actual progress

Hide the progress inside of a snarky passive-aggressive post making fun of googum.

Why are you using arrays in C++?

Can't ruin my dev persona.

I already did

Monster girls are the worst. Why not qt3.14 witches?

friendly reminder that C# is the ultimate language for modern game dev

Where? And don't even bother linking me to the post if it's a screenshot of a text editor. That's not progress.

I fucking hate half life. I mean it more like, you can talk to someone but just fucking walk away if you want. Or people talk to you over a comm as you progress through a level.
Have a boss yell "What is a man" then its time to throw down. No 8+hours of exposition

But user Witches are monster girls

>G-guys reply to my progress
>He didn't say which one is his game
I hate this.

I want finite space to store something like 16 instances of particle
It worked before with character trail, but I didn't need to make new instances after pressing a key

This works, but not quite well and I'm just missing something in code

I'm guiltying you into replying to all progress posts.

You take that back. Witches are cute and have goals, ambitions, and stories. Monster girls are just fetish fuel with no real purpose for existing besides being fap material. Fap to monster girls, marry witches.

Fuck yeah, I'm with ya'.

I'm not gonna make a game about one just yet, but I will after these two games I have in mind.

cheesed the 4 directional movement into 2 directions that kinda feels like 4 like that one user suggested. also you can window the game now Game maker doesn't let you switch from borderless to non-borderless in runtime but theres a plugin that does it I think so I might give that a go.

tru dat muh friendo

Thanks. Leaning towards Love and Unity after initial inspection, the former because it looks more accessible and is tailored towards 2D development, and the latter because of how much support it has.

I'll keep looking, though.

You have to understand that I've only been at this for two years, and only with Uni assignments. You guys have probably been programming with +5 years, several of which were likely spent working with games.

>he fell for the progress meme

Theres a culture of people afraid to call attention to their posts because they don't want to be "attention whores" not realizing if they want a successful game they have to be,

>You guys have probably been programming with +5 years
AAAAAAAAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

==|AGDG Weekly Recap|==
This way you no longer have to dig through to find the original recap post.

Frogpost or post that source image if you want (You)s that bad

I dream of making a witches/magical girl academy game someday. Maybe when I figure out how to finish a game.

I noticed I hadn't posted anything in over 5 minutes. Must not've been paying attention.

This is the first recap in a very long time where I have confidence in every single game on it. Good job agdg.

>all those 2 week streaks
none will last

H-how long have you been programming, then?

Looking good frog dev.
Why cheese the directional instead of proper implementation?

I disagree with your view of monster girls. Also I can't take it back because here is Witch's entry in the monster girl encyclopedia

...

Literally 6 months.

...

Looking pretty good right now. Is it Binding of Isaac-like (rogue-lite-ish)?

2 weeks.

yeah HL and HL2 are pretty shit about the in-engine cutscenes. Gotta love that engine, though.
