That's about £3500. I could get a lot of car for £3500 here, so I'd just go with a Toyota Hilux.
Pocket the 5k. Drive my old 16v tracker. Hell, it's got double the horsepower of that samurai and weighs about the same.
If I had to buy something, then there's a rare but cool american Daihatsu Rocky for $1K within driving distance I could grab. Bonus, it had a winch.
