I think people in this thread over estimate how much people hate Inaho.

Why do people even hate her to begin with? I've never been given an answer.

I think they should of added both in

when a game lets me choose between A and B and I've been playing B for the last 2 games, and suddenly I'm forced with A and C, I wouldn't be too happy with it.

also I don't think some people like playing as both genders, they prefer to choose one or the other. If YW3 wanted to switch between boy/girl, they could of added a new boy for the Fumi choice.

From what I heard, people don't like Inaho because she's the opposite of an ideal girl, she's loud and not-so-girly or polite. Fumi on the other hand is the ideal girl or what girls want to be. There's people that don't hate Inaho but they would just prefer Fumi.

I prefer Inaho to Fumi, honestly.

I feel like the reason Inaho was created was because Level 5 realized Fumi didn't have much of a personality on her own. I've seen it argued that she has more personality in the games, but it's mostly just Keita's personality with slight dialogue changes and when he's the one being pushed as the main character to the point where he gets a yokai that's based on him it can feel like the franchise doesn't have a big female presence.

That being said, I don't hate Fumi. These are just my two cents.

spoilers for 3 she's a bit of a dick to Usapyon or sometimes insensitive, but she's a good person deep down. For instance, when her brother was inspirited by a boss yo-kai, she's goes saves him. I thought she would be more dramatic about it like others would, but that's her personality, she's more light-hearted and easy going. After they get rid of the boss yo-kai, her brother falls asleep and she gives him a piggy-back ride home instead of waking him up.
She also sets up a detective team with Usapyon to help out others. That's another show that she isn't a complete asshole.

I think some people (like the fandom in japan) overlook her negatives and miss the positive aspects of her.

That being said, I hope they don't get rid of Inaho because I like her too.

The MCs in Pokémon however do not talk for the most part (save for gen v's movie thing)

True, but when you actively go out of your way to have actual characters and only give one of them a defined personality it feels kinda weird.

I dont quite understand how to catch yo-kai.

How much food do i feed them? how do i know what food they like? Can i stop my yo-kai from attacking to avoid killing them to soon?

Befriending a yo-kai is a bit of an annoying process.
To befriend them, you have to feed them their favorite food and hope for the best. If you feed them their favorite food, they will have a heart appear on their head when they catch it. In addition, a food that a yokai will like will automatically home onto them unless you have a pinned target. Their favorite food list can be seen at yokaipedia.net/list-of-youkai/ . You can also use a Yokai with Popularity as a skill to help increase the odds, and pop a wisp for a chance at a heart to increase the odds. Nothing's guaranteed though unless you pop a golden wisp with hearts.

Note that you can only feed the enemy yokai once per battle.

There are a few ways to do this though it involves team building and use of some items that appear later in the game. You can give your yokai a Restraint Belt item that halves their stats so that they can hold back. Alternatively you can use a book to change their attitude so that they can attack less often. See

Okay im just playing 1 at the moment. trying to get that coughkoff in chapter 2.

I dunno if ill stick with the game there seems to be too much bullshit like running around looking for cars to peek under. At least in Pokemon theres grass everywhere.

I like the designs though.

She was introduced pretty bluntly, like here's you new co-MC out of no where. No prior history, no build up, no easing in to, just thrown out there. She pretty much took up half the show at the expense of not just Fumi who she was effectively replacing, but Keita and his classmates as well.

Then there's her design and personality which is summed up as the overactive, genki, fujo which apparently isn't all that popular or likeable. Personally I like her more than Fumi since she at least has A personality and things going on, but that's a pretty low bar

If you're looking for yokai, you can just follow the hotspot radar until it blinks and inspect it.
Or you can find alleyways scattered around the city to encounter wandering yokai

i do follow the rader which always leads to cars and tree.

So it's actually easier to just cycle between all the cars on the map.

Okay so I'm very happy that Dr. Maddiman got some redemption in three especially since he's been appearing less and less in the series but it seems kind of a cocktease to not have him be befriendable. Hopefully the three updates will fix that and finally make him befriendable.

Cause once he is, My list of Yokai that I want to befriend in the main game series will be that much shorter. Whismallow Man, Tarantutor, Steve Jaws and now Super Manager are left.

It's not like Fumi no longer exists, though. In fact she still shows up as frequently as she did before.

Her debut episode was the season 2 premiere and I don't think they could have introduced her in a way that could've been better. I actually really like that it takes her awhile to meet Keita.

Some Yo-kai appear in the overworld in certain areas like the sewers or dungeons. As someone once said if they didn't deploy this befriending system, then what separates it from being just a pokemon clone?

The episode is actually called "Tomnyan and Jerry," so yeah.

Fun Fact: Tom and Jerry actually have voices in the original shorts in Japan. I guess silent cartoons are lost on the Japanese audience.

Their mouths don't move, it's the same shorts Americans saw back in the day/on Cartoon Network, but there's narration. It's weird.

You don't weaken Yo-kai to befriend/recruit. You don't catch them in balls. Yo-kai don't learn moves. HM's do not exist.

The overworld is stuck to either one city or a few different areas. No huge region to traverse. The player character talks. The Yo-kai don't just say their names, only some do. Status ailments aren't used to befriend Yo-kai, only defeat them.

Anyone can see Pokemon, only watch wearers and particular other people can see Yo-kai. Most Pokemon weren't humans in a past life and then died.

I can keep going.

if you're having trouble with looking around town for yokai, you can always head to the alleys. The yokai there put up a bit more of a fight, but you're guaranteed to encounter yokai without having to use the search thing.

If you're in chapter 2, that would be Desolate Lane, the Catwalk, and the Shady Back Alley.

You can also go to the abandoned mine tunnel at Mt Wildwood for some encounters.

So you have options.

I'm hoping that he has an "American" Yo-kai watch and Japanese Yo-kai medals literally won't fit into it, just like the actual Hasbro model. The plot could be them having to find him a Japanese watch for local Yo-kai.

Keita didn't seem to care about the U1 Watch after getting the Dream. It wasn't shown or mentioned. They didn't even do the "Whisper's mouth switches" thing that I thought they would bring back.

Does Tomnyan have a "normal" medal too? Jerry has an original Yo-kai Watch, not a Dream, but he's shown to have Yo-kai medals of his own, too. We just only see the tribe for some reason in the preview.
