I think the problem is that his nose is stiff for all of the animation even though he moves a lot and suddenly, for absolutely no reason it moves at the end.
Are you getting that impression by watching video? It could be that the capture framerate isn't fast enough to catch the full animation so it's getting every other frame.

I always go for the good end with destroying the generators & destroying the Metal Sonic hologram since I like exploring. I hate how you can't get good futures after you get all the Time Stones though, it makes me have to hold off collecting the last one until Metallic Madness Act.2 and I like breaking that level normally by going over the edge.

It's issue 150 and it's actually and I actually reccomended people start reading from that issue.
It's a little earlier than most reccomended, but it's a great point that explains just enough about what has been happening and what is relevant before diving into new material. The issues only get better from there until you arrive at the Golden era of issues 175-251, which leads right into the soft reboot.

ironically around 150 is often considered to be the very worst era of the entire comic, it was because of this that sega finally stepped in and told them to get their shit together and most people working on it got replaced.
i really wouldn't recommend starting at 150 but it's been a while since i read the whole comic so i don't remember if "it's a great point that explains just enough about what has been happening and what is relevant before diving into new material" is true
