I own the game with like 5 expansions (I actually own it twice Steam/Origin) but I feel like EA goes too far with the sims. It'd be like $400 for all this shit and the game never ran great to begin with.

Well if you already have Pets, Generations, Seasons, Supernatural, and University, there's nothing else worth experiencing.
I would recommend Island Paradise if it didn't run so game-breakingly bad. If you're into bots and futuristic stuff, I'd say go with Into the Future. It runs smoothly when you teleport but the loading time is abysmal.

It's good to play on it's own. Honestly it was never inferior to 3. I've clocked 770hrs+ online time in sims 3, hadn't touched it in a year until today... The concept was always great but the game is just so ugly. Runs like shit too.
