Hey people! I'm curious about what Veeky Forums thinks of stick vs automatic? Thanks a ton
Stick vs automatic

Here we go
Manual fags like to play around with the stick.
Auto fags like to hold their hand on the stick without having it move it.
Both groups like to call each other inferior and niggers.
What?

automatic is good if you are crippled
This:
> implying what i said isn't completely true
Pretty much spot on.
Its all personal preference man, in modern cars the auto trans are arguably better but can never replace the 'feel's of a good manual.
Do you want to fiddle and be connected to the drive?
or
Do you want to sit back and let it do it for you?
Basically
Muh feel
vs
muh ease of use
Automatic: Don't give a fuck about driving, also benchracing (because anybody here shilling Ferrari's laptimes owns a 458)
Manual: Actual enjoys driving
I've also noticed MASSIVE insecurity from automatic drivers who sperg out over transmissions at the drop of a hat and constantly make threads about how much better their transmission is to validate themselves
>owned 7 manual cars in a row
>then an auto
>then tiptronic
Fuck manual. I got memed for years
>Actual
Actually. I need sleep. Either way, in the real world automatic is fine for econoboxes (nothing wrong with manual for them either) however buying a feelsy sports car as an automatic is beyond retarded.
Yes, DCT is automatic before somebody starts this shit. It's not an automated manual, you're not shifting gears, you're telling a computer to.
...
>you're not shifting gears, you're telling a computer to
>you're not starting your car, you're telling a computer to
>you're not opening the throttle, you're telling a computer to
>you're not tuning a car, you're telling a computer to
>you're not adjusting the timing, you're telling a distributor to
>you're not adjusting the mixtures, you're telling a carburettor to
>you're not releasing the clutch, you're telling a slave cylinder to
>you're not changing gears, you're telling a shifter, linkages, and synchros to
You and your childish hang-ups
>DCT is automatic
DCT is DCT
Automatics are convenient. That's about it. Girls stopped being impressed by it after high school. It makes no difference in day-to-day driving, though knowing how to shift is always a plus. A lot of cool old Jap shit is only offered in manual.
This, DCT are neither by complete definition an automatic or a manual.
They exist in their own category.
Having driven a manual for 11 years now, I would only consider a automatic if I lived in a high traffic area.
After driving my friends 2016 Golf GTI with the DSG gearbox, I fucking loved it. This coming from a hardcore sports car driver and lover of automobiles. Sometimes at low speed you can confuse the DSG and it feels like someone pushing in the clutch really fast for a moment. Time will allow DSG style gearboxes to improve and eventually I wouldn't be surprised if it leads to the death of the manual.
I'm in the market for a new Civic, I have to wait for 2017 models to get the 6-speed in a higher trim level. The CVT is not a option, worse than a regular automatic. The drone the engine produces while accelerating makes the auto enthusiast in me want to fucking die.
Hate this fucking debate. Drive what you like. I've got a '14 Focus ST, manual, love it. But honestly if I could go back and do it again I'd have two cars. Something like a Miata for fun and a LS400 for driving to work. Manuals suck when you're sitting in stop and go traffic because some dumb bitch was texting while driving and rear ended a cop.
>It's not an automated manual
That's exactly what it is.
>Hate this fucking debate.
Then why did you bump it after 7 hours you sped?
I was against auto until I actually bought one.
Now I don't really care, although if offered a manual or auto version of the same car I'd pick the manual.
An automated manual is what an automatic transmission is, DCTs aren't any more manual than a slushbox
Better go with this guy, he has a great understanding of the inner workings of all transmission types
So much this.
>I'm arguing nothing more than this semantic
Good for you :)

I don't know why these all have music like this.
lol
Legos are pretty cool. I'd love to see how transmissions work for myself. Thanks YouTube for saving me money!
