Starting with Sengoku Leila becomes kind of a joke character, constantly losing to stronger people, and generally being somewhat useless.

She's an established strongish character so she's useful in establishing other enemies (Kenshin and Rolex) as strong without having to have them fight Rick first

In IV she was trapped in Atlanta's mirror. Really, SR is probably the game that shows the most competent Leila because she at least gives Kenshin a more decent fight than Rance in that game.

I've got a question for the FFA Sengoku Rance guys. How long does your average FFA run take (in actual time, not turns)? What about for players who are totally new to it?

I'm thinking of trying to master FFA whenever I'm in desperate need of a break from my studies, but I'd be pretty bothered if each FFA run took me like 3 days or something.

Incidentally, how good is the wiki for tips on FFA? I've never followed it to the letter, but I've never had the best results with it.

Really depends on the house you pick. Some of them require grinding the fuck out of your enemy forces and that could take ages if you're unlucky. I've never used the wiki for FFA myself.

I'm pretty sure it suffered a considerable development hell in part because they didn't know what direction to take after KR.

This one's got me thinking. What bonuses are 'acceptable' in the eyes of the more hardcore players? It's without doubt that any of the family bonuses are overpowered enough to trivialise the game, same for the Battle Permits and the +1 Fan. I'd also probably argue that taking ANY additional characters might be enough to push the early game unfairly in your favour (is that debatable?).

But what about the other bonuses? +3 NP isn't at all bad and +10,000 gold probably doesn't make any difference. What about the item bonuses? Aside from the Akashita Dog and maybe Rance's Love and the gold statues, none of them strike me as significant.

So, long story short, would anyone debate the following statement? "If you want SR to be at all difficult, the only bonuses that are acceptable are: +3 NP, +10,000 gold and any of the item bonuses aside from the Akashita Dog, Rance's Love and the Gold Statues."

Not really, the one that translates it gets to choose unless it's orders from the top.

That depends, assuming MG brass want the titles to be consistent but don't really care how, it'd still be up to the translators.

I wouldn't be thrilled at waiting longer for Rance, but at least it's a more gameplay centric AS title.

If not for Haruka and the stopped translations, I'd even accept Escalayer. I liked the anime. I just don't want it instead of Rance or another gameplay title right now.

As a game? Probably one of the best things to bring over. Evenicle is really good.

To be frank Haruka was a good first choice by Alicesoft, it's a good game with lots of porn, no way it was going to do bad.
I don't think any Rance game except Sengoku will do as well as Haruka did.
