So after about 8 hours of Platinum Stars, I've run into a brick wall where I'd have to grind on the small pool of songs I've unlocked, played, and FC'd multiple times to make any more progress. I now have no desire to play this game anymore until someone confirms the unlock requirements for Master difficulty. Pro difficulty isn't fun or challenging, the grind is getting mind-numbing, and there's barely even any commus to look forward to.
I was prepared for this game to be underwhelming, but I'm still kind of upset that it wore thin this quickly.

Depends on your expectations. If you expected a management game in the style of iM@S 2 / SP, you're going to be disappointed. I went in with pretty low expectations, and I honestly felt pleasantly surprised with how much I've been enjoying it. I really doubt this is the popular opinion though.

We don't know how the PS DLCs will turn out, but if they are anything like the previous games then they won't really change the PS and will just be more content.

Cheap DLC may be an industry standard at this point, but iM@S takes it to a whole new level. I found out how to unlock it. You need to input the Konami Code on the options screen while reading the Gettysburg Address backwards, while riding on a unicycle.

Now if you just eat snowcone without syrup you have no flavour. Naturally you /want/ flavour so you add syrup. He's saying that he went to buy the latest and greatest PS snowcone and to him, it had no syrup or so little that it didn't have a taste. DLC is like getting extra syrup added but it comes at a cost on top of the initial charge of the snowcone. He feels like he was shorted by getting a flavourless snowcone and being expected to pay extra just for the syrup to give it flavor.

PS doesn't seem to have any system regarding rivals, and they didn't announce anything about other idols as DLCs yet. In OFA they announced both Ranko and Serika before the game even came out.
