Pull one over about one bike for every 10-20 cars. Speeding is still speeding although speeding on a motorcycle is seen more leniently in my town. we understand that hey you're in traffic with people who can kill you at any moment so we don't expect you to want to be super close to them. 14mph and over is what my town usually requires for an actual speeding citation. Every place is different. Sport bikes are mainly pulled over for 20 mph and over. Cruisers are rare unless they're really hauling ass. I would be careful depending on who wants to get you. the license plate thing can cost you big the story i had mentioned above young kid speeding up and down the town shorts and tee no helmet. Obviously a rookie. Just bought bike no plates etc. Ended up getting him the first time my self. Was kind enough to just give him citation for no valid M class ( he didn't have insurance/plates) as well as tell him to just get a friend/relative to come pick up bike from parking lot with an Mclass. Told him if he goes to court and in-between the month from then to court date with a m class judge could probably drop it with supervision. Dumbass did it again got bike impounded and towed. and then got the whopping license/insurance/plates/speeding citation.

used to be city/state/ now just a municipal/ town in Illinois northwest suburbs.

Depends some departments its frowned upon to do "bingo stops" as they call them when they run your plates at a light etc. Most of us will only do it if we saw you doing sketchy shit and just run it, if your records clean we won't really pursue you. If you have numerous speeding/reckless etc then you will be followed. I usually tell people if you have a clean record carry on don't worry if you're a frequent ticketee as i like to call em then just pull over immediately act like you got something to do don't make it sketchy and pull over at the next drive way but make it realistic and just wait it off.

Afternoon dbt, hows your day going?

Just got home from work and now i can't be fucked taking the forks off the 300 and running them to the shop, typical.

The Holy list repels the Skid demom.

Complete.

I also changed the clutch plates.

They were spinning around inside, lol. I tightened it down so they never move now. :)

It's 1:30am and I'm drinking a brass monkey. Go take your fucking forks off.

Can I be added to the list?

don't worry user, one day we will be friends

Hypermotard user?
Sweet vid.
Thanks again for the info. So from what I get is riding diligently and responsibly, staying out of the limelight, even with permit and no buddy/curfew, I'll be OK. I've wondered about the coldcalling bingo stops, thanks for explaining. All the patrol cars at home have little boxes on the trunk I were told were plate scanners, so I've been a tad leery to permit solo cause of that.

Does your town have a motorcycle unit and are you riding? What do you ride?

Sup /dbt/

GUYS WTF I CAN'T SHIFT?!

I really should it only takes 15 minutes... if that..

Nice to see your still alive m8, i will add you to the list if you like.

Sure m8.

did you put the clutch plates in backwards?

Why did u kill the grill?

What's up fireblade, you get #69 decal yet?

Did you soak the clutch plates?

NO. I JUST PUT IN SOME SAND LIKE MY FRIEND TOLD ME TO! FOR MORE TRACTION!

Kek no, I did talk to a friend who makes decals about it though.

Finished all my finals and stuff so now I just have lots of freetime. Whats up with you?

Just ride with the required person. And honestly get your license asap. Bingo stops can be sketchy i know some departments stopped doing quotas some still feel the need too though. End of the month is when the quota towns come to life and you'll notice last week or two double the usual stops.

No motorcycle unit besides local highway patrol on the IL interstates. I currently have 4 Bikes in the stall. 2015 R1M my newest investment. 2013 S1KRR HP4. 2008 Yamaha R6. 2009 Yamaha R6 track bike.

why do you have 4 sport bikes?

>mfw BTSP died

why don't you?

Kitty is best for traction.

>14mph and over is what my town usually requires for an actual speeding citation
just out of curiosity, is there any degree of universality to this? specifically among larger cities. i've never really worried about it too much and just do what i need to in order to feel safe on the road, but it still feels weird splitting past a cop and then gunning it at the light to get ahead of the traffic. that's probably playing with fire a little bit, i realize, but splitting is legal in my state.

This is why I don't like Suzuki and Kawasaki:

Their core/stock color schemes are giant fucking advertisements. It's no longer "MY" bike, it's a Gixxer (tm) or a Ninja (R) that I happen to be riding.

I know there's branding on Hondas and Yamahars too, but its usually much more subtle.

I want people to look at my bike and say "Oh, hey what is that one?," rather than "Oh, nice Gixxer you got there."

Working on my finals, had two today two more late next week then I'm going back home.
Did the MSF here in IL, but doesn't work to waive the permit process at home. Shame I don't know any other riders at home, but c'est la vie.
>End of the month is when the quota towns come to life
Snap.
>4 bikes
Nice, nice. Is this one by chance?

Also is the rumor that "cops only pull over the second guy" true? I was pack leader on the highway going 89 in a 70 in a bright red truck and sure enough around the bend two opposite-pointing cruisers, I went to the rightmost lane after I saw a dust cloud and the guy behind me got lit...
Wat, mirror-smasher?

Should I make us our own website, forums and all that fancy jazz?

no, you shouldn't. you should instead fuck off, and then kill yourself.

>Adventure bikes are best bikes edition
>not a single adventure bike posted

Lets fix this

already tried, i broke the gun

So I cleaned and lubed my chain for the second time guys. I fucked up though.

I went for a ride earlier today and when I got home I had lube sprayed all over my rear tyre and some near the the engine block. It was giving off a bad smell while on the road and it dripped a little on my garage, completely black and thick.

How fucked am I? Can I just wipe the shit off with some degreaser? Or should I take it to the shop to get looked at?

Pls help.

Pic is before I cleaned the chain.

Don't buy one in those colours then?
Who told you a new bike has to be a certain colour?
you can do what ever the fuck you want to it.

>you can do what ever the fuck you want to it.
you can, but don't do that. that looks heinous.

Because sport bikes are uncomfortable and mostly unusable on the street.

I have always favored them and been through just about every type. I have been doing Trackdays on and off for 7 years now and enjoy the feel of sport bikes over cruisers/ sport touring/ adventure. The one bike i would like to eventually add would be the MT-10 or FZ-10 if they don't neuter it and bring it stateside like Euro model. Probably won't be doing any other types of bikes til i can't do the lean position. But I'm fairly young so i don't see my self on anything but sport for a while. Offroad i do have a CRF250 / YZF250 08/09 respectively.

In most towns here in Illinois that i've worked/ have fellow officers that work it fluctuates a bit. To name a couple i personally know of 13mph, 14mph(mine), 10mph. Usually it can be said that 7mph and under can be dropped by the judge if the driver has a clean record or no current citations so 7 and under is rare. We personally here won't do anything under 14mph because of the whole " I was going downhill, i accelerated to make the yellow"etc 14 is justifiable.

Haha its a nice bike but no unfortunately I'm picky with my exhaust/ tires/clip ons/ levers form what it seems compared to that bike. Also i do stomp grips on all my bikes/ tech spec.

lol take it to the shop? smdhtbqphf

I never said it looked good it just makes the point.
If you buy a bike it is yours, make it fit you.

>tfw i need to drive my car today
>first time after i crashed a month ago

Fuck

I seriously don't understand the appeal of sport bikes on the street. They all have standard versions with the same engine (albeit detuned), that are 10x more comfortable to ride daily. I also really don't understand having four of the same class bike. One for the street one for the track okay, but beyond that it seems pointless.

...

i personally am a sucker for kawasaki green

>new bike

And there's the problem.

Oh nice, hope they go well mang

i'm on a bender and i'm about to land a deal on a sick old bike.. feels good

how's /dbt/?

Jawsome bro
Didn't eat dinner and halfway into a brass monkey
Trying to write code but too busy shitposting
>story of my life

Thanks bro. How's all with you?
Going for a late night portillos run?

if you can code half as well as you can take a dick i bet you're a fucking guru

How often do bikes run from you, and how often do you catch them when they do?

be aware that answering this question might likely induce someone to run away from the cops.

u fucking wat

I'm glad Yamaha has moved back towards favouring the white/red/black again instead of just being a more boring blue than Suzuki though.

Sorta

I'm alright tired as shit tho, raced an LFA and an evo tonight, gave a qt a ride. Probably gonna go out drinking in a few.

is kawasaki green actually a specific colour? some kawasakis are the same colour as a john deere tractor, or is it just considered kawasaki green if its a green kawasaki?

only 5 months until all my speeding tickets go away and i can get a fast bike

>LFA
Shit, never seen one of those in person. I do like the exhaust on those.

Do what you've gotta do. I'm going to hit the rack real soon.

>is it just considered kawasaki green if its a green kawasaki?
basically

dual sport was here
adventure bike is a big fat faggot

>It was KAWASAKI GREEN
>On a hot summer's night
>Now the hometown said
>The boy shoulda used red
>But it looked good to Charlene,
>It was Kawasaki Green

>i own 5 superleggera's

its just imaginary bikes, bro.

I take my bike on adventures. Does that count?

the kettle called...

The guy who owns it lives pretty close to me, first time I've actually seen one driving was today, couldn't pass up the opportunity. You know?

To the Starbucks with all the aluminium cases on?

WHOA WHOA WHOA

I guess I ride a tour bike, not really an adventure bike seeing as how I don't take that big bitch offroad.

reminder harley a shit

What?

>the joke
>your head

All depends on rider i suppose. I personally enjoy the adrenaline of twists and turns ( south route/ rural towns around ). I have ridden every other class including a gold wing and while the sport bike is quite pointless in a way i find it the most enjoyable. Always have had a passion. Track day in two weeks first one of this season I'm excited. 4 of the same class its fun swapping street bikes because they all have their pros/ cons. at the end of the day they're pointless and overpowered but its the riders job to get the most out of them once you do the good routes. go through at least a couple sets of pucks just on street riding. was wishing to one day register for actual competitive racing but i already have my profession nor do i have time.

I have the perfect answer. We as a town have had 11 encounters that i can 100% guarantee and not just a radio call. out of those 3 were fatal. My town has a no chase policy. which means if the motorcyclists is riding recklessly and has not done anything life threatening such as rob a bank or kill anyone and isn't putting anyone in danger we cannot pursue. This is not always followed. And take it from me man it is not worth it. 3 fatalities one girl, two guys more like kids all 25 and under. Running and car pulled out for one of them the other dead on rear ended and the third lost control into a pole. It is not worth it. the other 8 or so i know a couple of them had their bikes impounded when they got home. all it takes is a plate. a good lawyer will say it wasn't you. It still means that the bike was there though. so bam its ours. Can you get a way yes. its possible. Towns i don't see happen a whole lot, highways all the time. i have never personally had a bike run away from me personally. i don't really pick on them i have escorted groups out of town though a couple times. I believe right now Chicago in general and surrounding cities has had a big increase in deaths this year

>MIATA

So what you're saying is running is fine if you don't have a plate?

Any issues with the GPS being above the wind screen like that?

yeah but then you're getting lit up all the time and every time you have to run.

does that mean my cb400 is an adventure bike then?

its whatever you want it to be, user

Touring is an adventure though Mr cacti

yes

ayy bb
how's your fffriday night motherfucker?

Where can I buy an M1030M1?
>TFW no diesel military surplus dual-sport.

Do you believe some troll who claims he owns 6 bikes but have yet to produce any pics.....think about it

Depends who's asking. If its a person i care about there are certain rules to follow to do it safely/ professionally. if its some random rookie just do it bro. you'll be fine bro. Feel bad for the people who have to see your mess.

I'm going to be getting an R3 in that color soon.

i saw a diesel military klr at a bike show and was super jelluy

4 Bikes. Police officer in Illi i have two for sure people here in this / previous /dbt/ that are from illi. Iam not supposed to be talking about any of this so i cannot provide pictures of bikes for my personal protection/identity in the sense of possible repercussions as a police officer. i can provide you pictures of race take offs if you want?

I suppose
>nice dubs

I'm not doing anything. I wanted to get really high but no one has pot here and I don't wanna drink.

I always see a matt black r1 whenever I walk to school :^)

Military auction, would get it really cheap too.

nowhere
they're unobtanium

expand on these 'rules' please

>Iam not supposed to be talking about any of this so i cannot provide pictures of bikes for my personal protection/identity in the sense of possible repercussions as a police officer.
Aaaaand he's a fraud.

...

you must be new to this whole "anonymity" thing. it's pretty easy after a while to separate out the chaff (unless you are a dedicated, biased skeptic) and make an evaluation of what mannerisms, typing idiosyncrasies, etc., that certain classes of people tend to have. the way 5-Veeky Forums writes is beyond even the most convincing trolls, because you can really only fully emulate something you actually understand.

It's behind the windscreen, the mount is around the speedo.

I think it works perfectly

ZX11 user here. Went back over to take a look on the progress of the bike. Back fairings are now stripped off, rear light was fixed, but appears to stay on as if someone were holding the brakes all the time. Dad rigged a copper coin to the cracked battery terminal (see pic) and it now starts and stays running without dying immediately. Also made the holes for the front seat lock in bar a bit bigger and rigged a bar inside so the seat stays in place (downside is that the seat is exponentially harder to get off. Probably going to need to get a smaller bar, or one that shifts forward.)

Things that were noticed since last night: Brake fluid needs to be added to all 3 sections that use it, air vent for the gas tank was missing a tube, one of the tubes for what we think was something involving air seemed like it was straight cut, and the back sprocket needs to be replaced (although it's not too bad, it's showing signs of wear.)

That's pretty ghetto.

Replace both sprockets and your chain together.

w-w-where's his pt belt to repel the skid demon, and enemy fire demonz?

we already have our own website and forum tho

Adventure bike is the bike that you have taken on an adventure.

Thats what I get for not looking hard enough :/
That's pretty epic though. I like that shade of yellow.
>all those boats
>I like boats
