Exactly that. If you look at the videos the dev released (who has an even thicker finnish accent than the Hydraulic Press guy), you can see how in depth is getting. You even have to select the proper spanners for the individual bolts.

The best part is the game allows you to fuck up and install parts before they should be put on (put the trans on before the clutch ect).

Finally I just downloaded a complete save. It has a bunch of annoying bugs but tons of potential. If you haven't played it I suggest trying it out.

how do I select a spanner? I have openned the tool box using U but it doesnt let me pick a spanner out. doesnt matter where the cursor is, i just end up picking up the whole toolbox.

get the block. turn upside down. get the crankshaft, wave it around the block until a tick appears and left click. them find the main journal bearings and install those. press P to piss, I piss all over my tools all the time. feels good man. press U to use or open tool case. press the number 2 to switch to tool mode. press 1 to switch back to pick things up mode. U will drink beer and eat sausage. move your way on up from there.

you put the pistons in first then line them up with the crankshaft. that way you dont accidentally score the crankshaft when you accidentally drop the connecting rod on it.

Also theres a glitch when you blow up the engine and hold the starter and you mess with the shifter while pressing the gas pedal you can drive.

I know that's why I got so confused by this game.

that's not a glitch. you can do that IRL. not for long. but you can do it.

How does this compare to Jalopy? I found it to be tedious and depressing, hopefully this one will be more satisfying with the Finnish countryside and a more rich mechanical model.

At minute 2:40 the car handling and suspensio physics look more real than any other car game I've ever seen.
Why are big developers so incompetent that can't make something look as smooth as that while a single drunken russian guy can?

Also, about the car handling and suspension physics, take a look at BeamNG Drive. It's still in an early phase but it does have really good suspension physics and probably the best damage model any game currently has.

Because the handling of cars in big games goes like this;

If the manufacturer is Porsche, Ford or some other picky company that wants to use the game as pure advertisement, they have to go with the first option. After that, they have to pander to previous players and how they expect the game to play like, rather than how it would handle in real life.
"Realistic" doesn't mean "true to life".

Nope, subframe and front suspension is all put together. No missing engine parts aside from wires and plumbing. Maybe I need to install the halfshafts first?

I had the front end assembled before installing the engine. Figuring out the engine hoist was interesting.
Bolts will show up when the engine is in the correct position. Took me several trys to get it in place.

i told you theres a short cut.

Anyone know how to get the water pump on? Where it goes is seemingly obvious but I can't get it to actually go in place.

You need the timing chain cover on first, and for that you need the camshaft, camshaft gear, and timing chain.

So how much is it a pain to put the engine together? Do parts only go in a certain way or what? I've done an engine swap so know what goes where, just want to know how shit goes together instead of spending 30 minutes on each part making sure it aligns perfectly.

it's a bit glitchy, but it's mostly moving parts to roughly where they go, and just clicking to have them lined up and installed, then fastening fasteners

Okay Engine is done but I have no fucking idea how the suspension or anything related to the underside works, there a decent guide to this section? Does this game need a Haynes manual?
