they scale off your physical attack which is contributed to by your str, yes, but going high crit is another way to achieve the same effect. the only thing a dexlander is losing is some bleed damage, which is insignificant at best considering many late game monsters are immune to it anyway. ultimately, the tradeoff is having moar dodge and better spike damage vs better consistency.

there is literally no reason at all to go high dex as a swordsman right now after the str buff. originally calcs showed at 280 theres around a 25% difference between str and dex but dex won out due to evasion so the 25% bonus damage of str didn't matter too much. now however with the 1.3x str buff and with everyone knowing def isn't a meme, dex is worthless for a swordsman bar shinobi and fencer (shinobi needs to dodge for charging up bushin and shiz not to mention gear breaks too fast without evasion, fencer scales heavily off evasion)

What does most monster CritDef look like? I read Dullahan has 100. It seems you can get an easy 130ish CritRate from gems and gear which puts you at 19.5% CritChance on 0 CritDef monsters, subtracting 0.15% per CritDef.

(934+926)*7=13020

Serpentine as full dex (as a bonus I've given you 100% crit rate instead of 80%):
(926*1.5)*7=9723

Serpentine as full str after the 1.3* buff:
(1214+926)*7=14980

If you had read anything in this thread you would know full DEX highlander was the way to go.

Even a full DEX Swordie with Crit Rate gems will only get like 80% crit rate on high level monsters. If you think you can get STR and Gems and stil lcrit reliably, you're delusional.

Choosing STR means you can't PvP. You'll never hit another Swordsman or an Archer.

A skill doesn't "scale with STR" just because it takes p.atk into consideration. If that werre true, everything in the Swordie tree would "scale with STR. Things only scale with a stat if the STAT is taken directly into the calculation.

Not him and not saying STR isn't better for Dopp/Highlander (don't have exp with high levle swordsman) but you can't just generalize a skill to be good via STR just because it's multi-hit. You gotta calculate the average damage with a rough estimate of STR/Atk/Crit/buffs. Multihits are said to benefit from STR because they have too-low base skill attack to benefit from dex more. 1355 base atk is pretty high and going to get higher with Dopplel 3, and your weapon already adds like 400 Attack so the extra 500 atk and (750crit atk * ~15% crit rate) might not be as beneficial as a 85% crit rate multiplying your hits by 1.5x damage. And crit atk is a flat bonus after the 1.5x damage calculation. And for an even fuller picture you have to look into your ideal rotation in each scenario (PvP/trash mobs/boss). Again I don't know how each class/builds buffs work besides Deeds adding attack% so whatever your phys attack is at 280 you can do that math yourself I don't know how swordsman stats look like at that level with some gear.

to be fair there are a lot of sources of 0 critres debuffs when youre going with a party, but id still say at least 250 rate of your own if you're planning on critting with any regularity

I had that exact shit yesterday fucking IMC. I never touched Steam until this game so I don't know how to do any of that verify files shit so here's what I did.

I read the OP FAQ, but the cookie cutter builds have Peltasta C1 in them for Swashbuckling, whereas I have a buddy who'll play a dedicated tank role (which ends up as a Templar if I recall correctly). Since we'll always be playing together, there's no need for me to get that Pelt C1, right?
