I hunted stygian zinogre like 30 or 40 times in 4U for just one gem, and i'm fairly certain that that's still called a good drop rate.

If I'm not mistaken then 3U introduced the GS' slap and 4U the swiping slash that follows a strong charge and allows you to combo endlessly.

Other than the moveset the GS never really changed. THere's nothing better than hitting a charging monster with a fully loaded charge, smashing his head in and sending it flying.

I made the mistake of starting with GS in MHF2 since then I just can't play any other weapons that don't have tons of weight to them.

LS, SnS, DB, SA and CB just feel so flimsy and useless

I played MHX too. Probably more than you did. Nobody used the Reddit method after the Sakura method was found. Japanese wikis and 2ch threads only recommend it for solo farming.

depends on your shell type, adept and aerial for normal type, guild and striker for long type, striker for wide type

I feel like a lot of people being critical of the "eat for explorer" charm farming method have absolutely no idea how it works.

You do know it spawns you right near 4 red nodes, right?

CE+2 is 20% affinity. Critical damage is 1.25 therefore every 10% affinity = 2.5% mean dps gain.
Crit Boost bums up crit damage to 1.4, making each 10% of affinity worth 4% damage increase.
AuL is 20 raw damage bonus. To make CE+2 better than AuL you need to have a such a weapon that 8% of its raw would be greater than 20, i.e. 20/0.08 = 250 raw.

The only node next to it is fuck-ass huge and doesn't have good coal nodes. One that gives 1x coals and another 2x coals but also has chance not to spawn at all. It's way more efficient to start at a random location.
