That's not a good comparison. Riku is a fairly well written character with major plot importance and has an interesting story line, all things which Inaho doesn't have. There's no reason to like her or her story and the forced switching would've been better if you were forced to switch into a likeable character. Recent anime episode have even taken out her segemnts; Level-5 has hopefully realized their mistake and is in the progress of throwing her out of the franchise.

Demo is agreed to be a pretty poor representation of the main game, though i wouldnt know since i didnt try the demo. It depends on what you're looking for to say it's worth it. It has a nice overworld in the detail town you inhabit, a good amount of youkai to befriend, and plentiful sidequests to complete. The battle system is pretty simplistic and is pretty much up to the individual if they'll enjoy it.

A lot of things actually, which can be summed up by strict, constraining contracts that limits as to what works a voice actor does until it expires or requirements met (usually the completion of dubbing/voice acting). Some actors also probably charge quite a bit for their stuff, especially the more well-known ones.
