I liked the idea of exploration but it felt very awkward to do so, there where times I'd get lost or disorientated on later levels because of how much it throws you around.
Because it's hard to get anywhere you're allowed to be fast unless you're pretty good or know the level.
So all the people who love S3+K where there's lots of "GoFast" sections I love S3+K where you do not much but press down to go faster are annoyed when there's literally nowhere you can do that outside of the second zone in CD.
I love the exploration aspect, there's more obstacles and places to use your spindash and platforming than in Sonic 2 for instance.
But no, we got a lot of "Sonic's about speed and there's things stopping me from going fast all the time" without realising a game you can do that on your first go would be pretty fucking shit. Or have massive arrows saying when to jump or roll 2 seconds before you do so.

Sally is redundant. Amy is the designated love interest. Nicole, Rotor and Tails are all smarter than her.
Blaze is an actual princess from the games.
Even Antoine is better at fighting than her.
Ian tried to make her interesting by turning her into a robot. Bollers wanted her to explore her princess side. Penders even tried to kill her off before Ian.

I'm not even a huge Sally fan but I'd say she has a purpose. Not a huge one mind you, but having her as kind of the spearhead of the Freedom Fighters is nice. She's the Nick Fury of the freedom fighters and that's all she needs to be.

Well that's what happens when you're from another dimension. Kind of hard to really fit her into a given plot since you can only use the "I lost the Sol Emeralds" plot so many times

She's lost every fight she's been in so far. Tails made Speedy his bitch in Tails' Adventure, and Sally got whooped by him.

Sally's the leader, the one who brings them all together and makes all the plans.
I know her plans fuck up like 90% of the time but that's only because Eggman has the Master Plan.
On personality, she's not even that bad. She's leader who wants to be more helpful than is possible and takes any defeat hard, like it's because she's failed the team.
But she also shows great compassion and understanding, knows how to organise forces, can stand up for herself in a fight when is needed. Or get her head smashed on a bar.
I'd say she was a good character who just needs to be given her own Universe story sometime. Nicole's was Nicole's, shh.
Amy has literally never been a serious love interest for Sonic. The whole point is that Amy is one-sided but Sonic doesn't want her like that, friendship at most but nothing romantic. Making her the actual designated love interest completely misses that point and ruins their actual relationship. That said, Sally shouldn't be the designated love interest either.
Nicole, Rotor and Tails being smarter on paper is irrelevant. Nicole is a computer. Rotor and Tails are tech experts. Being a tactician is completely different, especially when they get into the "do the logical heartless thing vs. do the emotional thing." In other words, if Sally is the Kirk then Nicole is the Spock and Rotor and Tails are Scotty. Sally should get better characterization when it comes to her role as the designated leader and tactician, but people will cry Mary Sue regardless.
Blaze is from another dimension, so making her a regular character outside of Universe misses the point of her character.
Antoine being a better fighter is the same thing as the aforementioned three being smarter. Sally doesn't need to be a better fighter because Antoine and Bunnie aren't better leaders.
Now, I do think her leadership should be improved and I do think the Freedom Fighters as a whole should be demoted in importance, but that's not justification for going full retard like you are. You're literally missing the point of multiple characters and saying they should be fucked around with in order to make Sally useless. That's a pretty stupid hateboner you have.

It's the character of a young tactician. Tower's ok with losing Shadow if it means the missions successful. Sally would do everything not to, but that's because she knows it would work, tactician's instinct vs caring nature.

Sonic is still strong. Eggman in the comics is smarter and crueler than the videogame one. He's a bigger obstacle with more resources.
Also I would like to add that Nicole's plan in that issue depended on Sally taking charge and failing spectacularly, which she did.

The only reasons why Sonic is so powerful is because of rings and the player having an infinite number of attempts to beat the game.
The obvious solution is to turn Sally into a joke character. Make her the "leader" who is a constant fuck up and can't get anything right. The only reason Antony let's her "lead" is because she's rich, and the real work is done by everyone else. So basically what we have now only she's retarded on purpose and people "like" her out of pity but in reality find her pathetic and mock her behind her back
