The worst part here is that it makes it harder for collector's who will not support this membership shit to get the games that they want. I can already imagine a 2000-print run reduced to 500 copies available to the general public because 1500 people signed up for the membership and picked up a copy during the early-day ordering period.

And it's not like this will mean that there will be an increase in the availability of the games, since that decision will always be on the publisher.

Atelier games are only RPGs because they need a battle system. It could easily be an action game or even an FPS and it wouldn't matter much because the focus of the battle system. Fighting in Atelier is just a mean to an end rather than an end in itself.
