Car feels thread edition

Hi Veeky Forums Long time lurker first time poster here.
Name of the game is we post our cars and all the shit wrong with them that pisses you off to no end. also general modifications you've done to you car thread. vent to me br/o/s.
I'll go first.

>97 civic Ex.
>Cheap 50 dollar coil overs that are shot.
>ACURA GSR motor swap that has a piston ring set wrong, originally sent to a "professional shop" for a 0 mile rebuild, they fucked it all up.
>misfires on cylinder 1 and 3.
>burns 1qt of oil every 1000 miles.
>oil pan gasket leaking.
>Ignition module burns out every 3 months.
>Literally every panel rattles.
>hasport motor mounts make the idle unbearable.
>no adjustable camber arms so camber wear on new tires in about 2 months or less.
> rear struts are blown.
>paint chips everywhere on front end.
>7 inch crack in windshield from the bottom up.
At least i have air conditioning in 100F weather

>97 Nissan 240sx Kouki
>1jzGTE motor swap (properly done).
>r154 transmission (not properly done).
>thrust bearing on trans is shot so it squeaks every time I take the clutch out.
>4th gear grind when you step on gas.
>end link hardware missing so when you hit a bump drivers side wheel has a thud sound.
>heat spills out of the shift area because no heat shield around transmission.
>no A/C but parts are there, need custom lines made.
>cant pass emissions but its registered in the sticks so no problems lol
>only 280 miles a tank, in a 14 gal tank.

otherwise the kouki is mint condition, interior is a 10/10 and exterior is a easy 9.5/10, no regrets buying it since its one of the dream cars.

also i have barely enough money to fix both.
Hold me.

Sell the nigger Civic and dump money into the 240sx.

some times i want to, sometimes i dont, it was my first car so i got that dumbshit attachment to it.

>not wanting to embrace the 240

please sell that civic, its holding your 240 back

Don't get all sentimental all 240s are straight shit boxes
>muh cracked strut towers
>muh rusty rockers in Florida weather
>muh noodle chassis

have so many plans for the 240 desu
HAD so many plans for the civic.
thinking about putting it back to stock and just having a beater daily instead of a rice daily.

the time will come to sell, but i want to fix it before doing so, need that good karma.

>not living where there is no rust whatsoever
>tfw I can hear my chassis flex
pls dont remind me

Arizona weather here, and previous 2 owner cali car that was locked in storage for 2 years when it came to AZ.
>no rust anywhere
>its glorious

noodle chassis kek

>Literally every panel rattles.
This shit drives me up the wall.
>Instrument panel rattles
>Sunroof rattles
>Door panels rattle
>AC rattles
Besides a dumbass friend breaking the handlebar above my door and then blaming the handlebar for it, my car is pretty good.

My best friend drives an 03 Grand Prix, I believe (year is prolly wrong). That car is a true piece of work.
>155k miles on it; 4 previous owners I think
>Eternal check engine light
>No ABS
>No traction control
>Two power windows broke, paid $100 each just to have them put up
>Highbeams are duller than his normal headlights
>Both head lights and Tail lights are oxidized and have condensation
>Has a full-size wheel in his trunk because the previous owner lost the spare (???)
>Passenger door caved in towards front so every time it closes or opens you hear metal screeching
>Stereo was broken when he got it, replaced it with an aftermarket
>4 out of 6 speakers completely broken/blown out, no sound clarity and if you turn volume too high it sounds like bees are trying to escape from a spray paint can
>Had it recalled because there was a possibility that his engine could blow up if he rapidly braked from above 60+mph
And finally the coup de grace:
>Driving home with him two nights ago
>Transmission fails to 'catch' the next gear.
>Pacing up to about 40mph and we reach 30mph
>Auto decides it's time to shift up
>Car revs to 5k (redline 6-7k)
>Fails to catch gear, drops back down to 2k RPM
>Revs back up to 5k, fails to catch, drops back to 2k RPM, repeat ad nauseam
>This goes on for about 90 seconds, probably longer. we're now just cruising at 30mph while we wait for his car to shift up
>It finally shifts up with a big 'OOMPH', each gear shift is fucking HARD
>He's calm the entire time this shit happens, says "It's happened for longer before."
Honestly I don't feel safe when we're in his car but everybody fucks around and throws shit in mine so what can a nigga do?

my god why, tell your friend to shell the money out and buy a better car, Pontiac is dead.
i give him 5, maybe early into 7 more months before the transmission goes. then hes really in for it mang.

>coworker bought a Pontiac GTO a month ago
>14,500 in the hole cause loan
>"professionally" rebuilt motor
>has paperwork on rebuild, plus receipts for new cams and race camshafts
>3 weeks later the LS1 motor blew, spun bearing, and insta rod knock.
>Currently sitting in a repair shop
>he rides his bike 7 miles to work now

Himself and his family have never been financially well off and he will routinely pay for some of his family's bills/groceries just to help out around the house. He also received the Grand Prix for free from his cousin (presumably because nobody would want to buy it).
I keep telling him you can buy an old civic or toyota on Craigslist for a few thousand but his plan is to just use it until it's fully dead. It doesn't help his parents have trash credit so he'd be stuck with private sellers, even if he wanted to go to a dealership.
"I'll buy a new car when I absolutely have to. There's no reason to buy a car right now."
>niggausrs.jpeg
Although, when he borrowed his mom's 2012 civic (because their family truck also died recently) he drove that thing HARD since he can't possibly drive like that in the grand prix.

heres the thing though, when people say they're gonna drive it into the ground, when it happens they're never prepared.
>happenseverytime.jpeg

maybe he can get a small personal loan from the bank and get a decent stock honda. theyre reliable when not completely molested.

Stock picture, but

>CEL for fuel vapor
>low gas warning shows on satnav and must be dismissed before changing radio station
>door ajar sensor going out, firm smack fixes it, but resets radio (???)
>door lock relays going out
>won't remote start with CEL
>button for glass hatch release fell out
>satnav update DVD won't run
>doesn't play CDs when hot
>headlight bulb replacement a bitch
>15 mpg even when granny driving
>rides like a stanced prelude

Pre-bailout GM not even once. No idea how I'm gonna sell this thing.

>Rides like a stance prelude

how? shocks/struts blown?
sounds like hella electrical issues, and once again eternal CEL

Nah, just chebby made it stiff as fuck

1994 Honda Civic CX, paid $1300, 10th owner

mods that came with it
>D16A engine swap
>Del Sol seats
>Magnaflow exhaust and cat delete

my own mods/upgrades
>new wheels and tires
>replaced trans for a Synchrotech one, was tired of the synchro grinds
>Blox upper control arms all around
>set of used Koni Yellows and Eibach Pro Kit springs
>old school Denji headlights

The problems are almost gone honestly.
>no AC (have most of the parts for that in my closet)
>driver side lower ball joint noisy as fuck
>idle constantly bounces, and it isn't being caused by the IACV
>had an unrecorded accident in the rear driver corner, metal is quite wrinkly underneath the plastic inside the hatch area so the glass needs quite a bit of force to close

Being the ultimate rice car, it has no right at all to exist through ten owners.

>CEL
>OBD1

>idle bounces

check your timing? could be off and its trying to compensate so it doesn't die out of nowhere. random guess though.
my 1st guess was deff gonna be the IACV.

>Kouki Running OBD1 engine In OBD2 car
MFW i cant check anything wrong on the fly ever.

I'm really not sure.

>was fine for a while
>start car one day, idle low as fuck
>one of the wires for the plug to the IACV fell out of the plug
>my dumbass goes to grab it with the car running and it sparks on metal
>reconnect it and it hasn't been right since

Since then I have replaced the entire engine harness because it was all hacked up anyway. Also bought a literal new IACV for no reason. I think the spark fucked something up but I'm not sure.

clean out the IACV bro. or if you havent done so install the new one just to be safe. you probably shorted the electrical component mounted to it.

TT 300zx

Forged Bottom end
Reco'd valvetrain

garrett 2560s
new wiring harness
HICAS deleted
R200 diff
single piece drive shaft
upgraded radiator

most of the sensors/senders on the engine (eg CAS, TPS etc) are new
lots of deletes (egr being the big one)
3" exhaust with magnaflow x muffler and a pair of greddy sp's

probably forgetting other shit

Yep I cleaned the old one then installed the brand new one. I'm just thinking it's an electrical problem so I tried an old ECU I had laying around from my last auto 1993 Civic and it didn't change anything.

Even when it isn't bouncing (which is kind of rare), it's sitting at around 2000 RPM.

>2005 Sunfire
>many, many broken interior plastic bits
>dead fuel pump (broke down on the highway today)
>ROAD NOISE YEAAAAAAAH

>what I've done to it
>$500 sound system (to be installed)
Not much desu, pretty perfect as a daily.

>1999 miata
>too tall even with foam shaved from the seat
>driving with shoes is impossible because of size 14 feet
>shocks are fucked
>chassis rails are fucked so lots of flex
>2 big rips in soft top
>have to try and find a way to strap a racing surf mal to the top
>pretty sure there is a leak in the top of the fuel tank, any cornering with a close to full tank stinks the cabin with fuel

I need 2 grand ish to fix the things i want to fix.

At least the engine is perfect right?

>240sx
Literally just saw this

...

lmao, americans are jizzing themselves over beaten up 240

Dirty throttle body?

Is this the beaten up driftmissile version of Hatsune Miku?

>turbo'd car
>nothing went wrong

feels bretty gud

06 wrx TR. Only thing fucked up is that I dumped the clutch one time about a year ago and it went from a super aggressive clutch to an extremely tame clutch. Don't know what the fuck is broke but it still drives good

Dodge neon 2000 faded orange base auto
>god tier reliable

>nav
>leather
>wood
>fresh white gold pearlescent paint job 4 days ago
>reliable
>laid out three hos since I bought it
>good hwy mileage for a v8 (26-27)

Cons
>300 miles per 20 gallon tank
>atrocious city mileage (10-15)
>too much attention sometimes
>too loud sometimes when j just want to cruise
>attracts bad girls
>200 shot drains the bottle and gas tank when in use
>dual bottle setup would be overkill for the shitty stock tranny
>slow 5 spd auto and the gated tiptronic works faster than the shift buttons
>tranny struggles to deal when flowing 520 hp through the engine
>had to sink 5000 into it to bring it up to a decent standard of looks and performance

>three speed auto this bitch is geared like a th400

I had a Monte Carlo with a th400 and my gf had a 2000 neon with the 3 speed and the 3 speed is by far the worst auto trans I have ever driven

>attracts bad girls

That can be fun tho :^)

Also if the trans is too slow get a shift kit senpai, or drop your pan and turn the dial clockwise for firmer shifting

All this shit just to have rwd? Jesus dude you fell for the meme hard

>do stuff
>stuff works
Best feel

Op here, surprised my thread is still up! bump it back up i wanna hear everyones struggles desu.

>Slave cylinder needs to be bled so it shifts like shit
Has a nice short ram intake, though. And a nice (unnecessary) spoiler.
Completely decatted, with a Magnaflow muffler and exhaust tip. Love this car to death, but it puts me through too much shit.

It's not even that far interior is "'cheap", I just wish it'd stop making stupid clicking noises and rattles. Cheap materials are OK with me but bad tolerances are annoying.

I know that feel bro, between the road noise and interior rattle it drives me crazy.

watching the car rust away as months go by

its beyond saving i think

well i guess it will be free soon

wish i were too

> needs to work on the car to get better shifting
> can't just learn how to shift better

kek

My girlfriend owns a neon. The girl I was fucking on the side last summer drove a neon too. The girl who I was hooking up with in high school's mom drove a neon.

They're 4cyl shitbox pieces of shit. Always breaking down. Girlfriends dad put 6,000 into it last year on a new tranny, another 1,000 into an alternator and battery job. Guess what? Her car is sitting in the parking lot outside right now and won't even fucking start. So her dad is having us call triple A for it to be towed 3 hours to their home in another city to be worked on so he can FIX IT UP AGAIN and sell it for, what he is hoping, is 1,000 bucks. He'll probably get 500 if he is lucky.

I learned to drive in it. It is slow.

You drive a beta mobile. Sorry daddy-o.

Meanwhile we're cruising in my 2006 V6 Grand prix and it is on 140k miles and is a panty dropper.

Let me reiterate. You drive a beta-mobile sonny. Enjoy being cucked.

>tfw driving the country roads
>tfw slow down to 30, and speed up
>tfw the rpms hit 6,000 revs
>tfw kick up to 80 mph and you get thrown back into the seat
>tfw ride is so smooth 80 feels no different than going 40.

Got a 944-951 for dirt cheap, Car runs good, Parts are reasonable, Have the mechanical ability... But alas no space for a complete re-re. Saving up $$ for a 20'x24' workshop. Maybe in 5 years I can actually do something amazing to it. Priorities man... Fuck.

>funnest car to drive
>obsessed with the styling
>had a lot of over heating issues when I first got it
>scarred, won't take my eye off the temp gauge even with altima fans

Love it to death.

since you drive a 240, do you get alot of heat coming out of the shift boot area? and also down your right leg and foot (if youre LHD) basically the transmission hump. for some reason mine just spews out the heat of a thousand suns and im thinking cause no heatsheild/ and the fact my exhaust is basically down the center of the car.

93 240sx

B-but it ain't that bad?

Right?

R-RIGHT GUYS??

fug mane
OP is the 1jz worth swapping?

If he needed RWD that bad why didn't he get something like a Roadmaster?
>RWD check
> V8 check
> comfy as fuck. Check.

Rare and expensive

A buick Roadmaster? Mid 90s?
That's the one I was talking about, around these parts they are insanely cheap and some even come with a LS1.

I know most miatafags will think they're pigfat but at least other-user could fit in one. Plus you got that sick ls1 aftermarket support.

Rare and expensive

LT1... It's just a throttle body fuel injected 350 as far as I can tell.
Extremely affordable and common in the US. I can get one for under 2 grand If I want.

I'm in usa and it's not here

Then search elsewhere dipshit.

...

You can buy cars for less than 1500 ?
What the fuck?

I think I might have misinterpreted your post??

I bought a running, driving Honda civic for $500 a couple weeks ago. It's been crashed, prior salvage title, but I have temp plates for it already and just need to get it insured.

Sorry buddy, they're super common here. I've been thinking of getting one as a track car actually

Deff worth swapping. i spool so quick alot of v8s cant keep pace on the highway. 4th-5th gear and im leading by a car length. not to mention the best part. ITS QUIET. seriously, i barely have to raise my voice even full throttle with headers and full exhaust, not to mention the idle is barely there. its so insanely smooth and i love driving it. if it didnt have the 1jz id probably opt for an LS or RB, but for now its so worth it mang. also most shit is cheap to replace.

08 WRX

Good
>Lot of ricer parts available
>Exhaust sounds good
>I like how it looks

Bad
>Everyone thinks I street race
>lots of little things starting to break/fail
>expensive to maintain

Hopefully I can get an Sti a few years from now.

Looking to lower the car in the new few months though. Dampers and springs are expensive.

Daily:
>2002 Volvo S80 T6
>Electronic bugs out of the ass

Project:
>1971 Datsun 240z
>Think the syncros might need some work
>New clutch
>Paint
>Need to put it back together after cleaning up some parts
>That's it

Tfw my project car has less problems than my daily driver and the 240z cost less initially. (this was before boomers completely fucked up the classic car market with muh Barrett Jackson prices, but that's good for me I guess because that means it's appreciating)

ahh im jealous of your project man, my dads dream ride is a 240z, hope one day i can get one for him.

That whole era of late 90's early 2000's Volvo S was really shit.

Fucking shit brakes that overheat and smoke after 5 minutes of hard driving.

2001 Mazda Protege ES, 300k paid $300 for it

cons
>rusty as shit
>something in the rear squeaks over bumps
>interior rattles
>1 engine mount and 1 trans mount are shot
pros
>insanely good on fuel (600km a tank if I really stretch it)
>bumpin' aftermarket sound system installed by previous owner
>ugly so no niggers will steal it

2005 Ford Mustang GT
cons
>horrible on gas
>stock shifter is garbage
>interior is worse than my $300 mazda, already falling apart despite having half the mileage and being 4 years newer.
pros
>relatively easy to work on
>cheap parts
>brembo brakes and wide rubber make it seriously fun to drive around the track
>v8 soundtrack

Noice m8

>leaky gaskets errywhur
>left rear has a rattle in the suspension
>fucking fuel leak on top of the tank
>got rear ended and now rear quarters are wavy and silver bumper
>brake pedal hard as fug but all moving brake parts are good, no uneven wear, nothing locks up

I'm getting a new shell soon though so that's good.

>leaking oil, probably a gasket
>hood doesn't align properly on right side, pinches headlight so I have to get that fixed before I do headlights
>engine light on
>rev hanging
>rough idle
>exhaust leak

but it's my shitbox

What is the purpose of having "Daily Driven" windshield banner on your piece of shit Civic, other than to fit in with your faggy vaping friends?

No seriously, what was your thought process when you wanted to get a dumb windshield banner and you thought "Daily Driven" was a sick idea.

Literally nothing I can complain about besides not being a loud V8 or TT

00 Eclipse
>paid 500
>replaced alternator and few other things
>has started every time since
>dash is FUBAR
>paint is FUBAR
>Heater core is bypassed because dash is FUBAR
>No AC because something is leaking
Love it and hate it, but for 500 bucks it's been pretty good, I've since lowered it and replaced everything on the suspension.

95 240sx s14

>no ac, windows don't work and after a while feels too slow

Was going turbo with the 240 but found a great deal on an Sr20 and snatched it right up. Car is currently in my backyard with no engine waiting for me to finish school and put it back together. I miss it so much Veeky Forums :(

being 16 and being too lazy to remove/change it brah duh.

>>only 280 miles a tank, in a 14 gal tank.

my slow as FUCK 4cyl Tacoma goes 180 miles to a tank with an 18gal tank. call yourself lucky

what the fuck man, somethings gotta be wrong for it to be acting that poorly on the mpg
