How do I get doctors to actually do their job here?

I've been to urgent care centers many times and have had zero positive experiences. My favorite being:

>have horrible throat infection, complete with stabbing sensation in ears and inability to swallow
>almost certain that it's mono since I made out with a girl six weeks prior (smack dab in the middle of the incubation period) who I later found out had recently had a mono infection
>go to urgent care
>Middle-Eastern doctor who can barely speak English asks what's wrong
>tell him I have a throat infection and think it's mono since I was exposed to it
>he says maybe but suggests ruling out other things first
>proceeds to jam a q-tip into the back of my throat without saying anything while I choke
>comes back and tells me I actually have strep
>gives me an antibiotic
>take it for a week
>symptoms only get worse, stop taking them
>go to a ENT specialist
>tell him symptoms without mentioning mono exposure
>unprovoked, he asks me if I've been exposed
>gives me an anti-viral when I confirm that I have
>infection clears up almost overnight a couple of days later
